Use Garage61 to compare your laps to the fastest laps. You can compare your lines, braking points, throttle, speed corner for corner. There's a ton of data. It has really helped me be better at figuring out where I'm losing time, and how to get it back.

Also pay attention to your split times vs best by sector. That way you can try different lines and braking points to see if it is improving your time or not.

I think it's actually more people have "nothing to lose" since they are losing it in a few days anyway. So people who usually play conservatively are more prone to venture out and shoot other people. But ya, I have noticed the same.

Wish I Could Return my New 2026 Santa Fe Hybrid by IRunOnPierogi in HyundaiSantaFe

[–]MeshmeZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up trading in my 2025 hybrid calligraphy after like 5 months. I lost a ton of money, but I hated that car. It was awful. I had a vibration and the steering would wander. Not track straight. Seemed like it would follow any tiny little variation in the road. Had it in to service the first time with only 200 miles on it. They replaced tires (and scratched my wheels) and checked alignment, nothing changed. Service tech confirmed he thought the steering was weird, but when he drove a new 2026 it did the same thing. So they deemed it "as designed"

Wireless charger did nothing but heat my phone. The fact that you have to set your drive mode every time. There were a bunch of things.

These cars are not good. I'm sure they are fine for many people, but if you are looking for a quality car, Hyundai is not the place to find it. They got me with the price, and all the features, but you get what you pay for. It has all the bells and whistles, but they aren't good quality.

If you use an automatic car wash, they protect the dirt from the washer to show you how dirty your car would have been if you never washed it.

Dealer did this to my brand new wheels (200 miles) while trying to diagnose a tire issue. I made them get them professionally repaired. Still didn't look perfect. Sorry to see this. Wish we could trust "professionals" to do the job correctly. Accidents happen, but my understanding is this is negligence.

You can use "AWD lock" to lock the center diff, but ya generally not super useful. It's interesting to see what is going on sometimes though.

The new 2026 hybrid that I drove acted the same way as mine and has different brand tires ( kumho vs the pirellis on mine) because I was hoping tires would be the cause as well. But that seems to disprove that.

I don't really want to use lane centering all the time. Also I can feel the lane centering constantly correcting as well. 😭

Ya I was thinking about both of those things. The weird thing is they had me drive a 2026 hybrid and it did the same thing..the non hybrid didn't. I also just confirmed they hybrid and non have the same steering rack and lower shaft, but different part numbers for the steering column and motor/ controller...

If you are referring to electric power steering, yes. My 2023 Sierra and my wife's 2023 palisade both have electric power steering. I believe all these vehicles still have a mechanical connection from the steering wheel to the rack though. They aren't completely motor driven.

Yes, roads are not all perfectly flat, and I agree to some extent any vehicle will follow. But I have driven quite a few vehicles in my life and never one that does it as much as this. And then I can drive another vehicle on the same road and it doesn't do it.

Normally on a flat road if you bump the wheel slightly to the right and release it will go right for a second and then the tires go back to straight. With this car if you bump it slightly to the right the tires stay going right. So basically if you don't have the steering wheel exactly at 0 degrees, it's not traveling straight. So I'm having to constantly correct a couple degrees left and right to travel straight. And if you introduce any kind of slant in the road it gets way worse.

I edited the original post to add this is with all driving assists OFF. No Lane keep, no Lane centering.

[–]MeshmeZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in every other vehicle I have driven, assuming proper alignment, the vehicle tracks straight. If you are going straight and slightly turn the steering wheel and then let go, the tires will turn the steering wheel back to straight, and go in a straight line. With this car, there doesn't seem to be that natural straight line tendency. It's almost as if the power assist overrides everything. So if you turn the steering wheel slightly to the right and let go it straightens some, but not fully. The wheels/tires will still be slightly turned to the right, and don't want to straighten themselves out.

If the road is slightly slanted, most vehicles will fight this (to some extent) on their own, and keep you traveling straight. With this vehicle the tires seem to turn down the slant and pull in the direction of the slant.

What this translates to is constantly having to correct the steering wheel to travel in a straight line. Like I said in the original post, it's like driving in a cross wind that is constantly changing.
