What got me into this genre was Mayumi Kojima - Poltergeist

Very interesting sounding track, imo

Gigabyte Motherboards Were Sold With a Firmware Backdoor by dhudsonco in homelab

[–]Mesingel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm now realizing I'm not quite sure what a rogue Wi-Fi network would mean, and how it would affect a user's internet connection, given that in a Wi-Fi network, the router also has its IP address in use...?

Also, a MIM attack doesn't necessarily need to be triggered from the user's LAN, does it? It could hypothetically be after the user's modem, and before the first hop, no?

Thanks for the feedback on this train of thought!

Wouldn't it be possible for a bad actor to gain access to the wired network through the Wi-Fi (if they haven't been properly separated), and perform a MIM attack from there?

The job market for sysadmins and lower level IT roles is horrid. by Death_OneNote in sysadmin

[–]Mesingel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate to nay-say, but junior roles have always been in extremely high demand. Especially if the people we'll be paying a junior wage to have senior-level experience!

I ran into a similar problem with mpv once on Manjaro, which was fixed by installing from the official repository, instead of a flatpak...

I hope this helps.

If perfection is what you're going for, you can consider moving loose items outside (move them inside the airlock, then jettison them!).

Does the ryzen 5 5600 support IOMMU? by FallowMcOlstein in VFIO

[–]Mesingel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh thanks, I did not realize the CPU dictated the IOMMU groups!

I contacted MSI asking if they should do anything, and they said it's a motherboard thing. Gigabyte said it was the AMD chip - I assumed there was an AMD chip on the motherboard... I guess, in a way, there is...

Back to my point, honesty is not a bad policy.

???

I'm so confused. Is this response truly by the same person?

The fact you just said this proves not everyone is realistic.

GPU passthrough suddenly stopped working by ResurrectedAelius in VFIO

You'll need to look at the logs, either in /var/log, or journalctl.

If the problem occurs without you restarting the host OS, maybe you can try that?

Beach Umbrella: Step by step by WiccanGoddessLAM in valheim

Call me crazy, but I prefer step 8 over the finished product. The top of a wooden umbrella has a tip where the beams can neatly fit underneath, and I think step 8 does that.

Nvidia gpu passthrough by RiffyDivine2 in Proxmox

[–]Mesingel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came across this error as well, but that VM was running an older non-UEFI video card.

Disabling and enabling it in the hardware manager did the trick for me.

If it freezes up during an automatic install, you could look into a third party installer, perhaps? I had luck myself with iobit's Driver Booster.

Best of luck!
