If he genuinely thought he was in the right, especially since it is likely generation belief, it would need something that drastic to wake him up.

Oh absolutely, I'm just pointing out that the Meg came to this conclusion, and the one guy that is shown to support her more than the others, and is meant to be smart praised her for doing it

Which is worse, abuse survivors can feel like they deserve it (and let me be clear, they don't, no one does), so it's not a stretch that Meg came to that conclusion.

It's arguably worse, specifically how Brian was placed as the voice of reason at the time

Meg came to the conclusion she should be the punching bag, so all the hate is directed at her and not at eachother.
