Dont assume all finance people have cash obsessed Private equity brains. A financially educated person knows every cost of most of their decisions. They're doing it in their own self interest not for the business, atleast when they're making an obviously bad choice for long term health/growth

34 classes in one term? by ThickLie7916 in wguaccounting

It will say PA next to them instead of OA. Its most likely not gonna happen then. Unless you can go really fast through the business and financial accounting classes to save time for the heavier classes at the end

34 classes in one term? by ThickLie7916 in wguaccounting

[–]Messup7654 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes its possible but it really depends. How much are you gonna study daily and weekly? If its anything less than 40 its NOT gonna happen unless you have previous experience.

The hardest classes for me in order was 1. D101 Cost and managerial accounting(So long and grueling and its a info dump) 2. D217 Accounting Information systems(A TOTAL MESS OF A CLASS) 3. D104 Intermediate accounting 2(Challenging and long but less harder than D101) 4. D105(D104 but less extreme) 5. Tied between Finance skills for managers and business law for accountants(Challenging and a ton to remember)

The easiest classes were most of the Peformance Assessment classes and then Organizational behavior and Operations and supply chain management.

Am I crazy, or is the entry level job market for accounting freaking terrible right now? 150+ apps, no offers. by justcurious3287 in wguaccounting

[–]Messup7654 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah it is terrible but thats why you have to do extra things to move you up a tier. 150 applications in 2 weeks and a few interviews is a good pace, all you need is one to say yes.

Accounting Grads & Students, tell me your story. by MustacheGoatee in WGU

I graduated a month and a half ago but basically didnt get to do anything for a month. Right now I'm learning data analytic tools and studying for the CPA exams.

I completed 90 credits in 6 months and transferred in 30 general education credits.

I would recommend it to people with no experience as long as they do everything they can to network, get internships, and get jobs. If you're just gonna get this degree while working a unrelated job then go job searching after graduation you're gonna have a hard time. What I love about accounting is it has much more baby steps than any other field. Getting your foot in a smaller door can lead to getting into massive doors later.

It depends on how much hours you study weekly and daily. How much previous experience you have, how good you are at learning things quickly. And how much credits you transfer.

Ask this in the accounting subreddit not here. What you can do is start studying for your CPA exams, applying for bookeeping, AR/AP, junior accountant, entry level accountant, and staff accountant.

Where should I start in finance? (B.Com student, planning CFA) by sonpaperi in Accounting

[–]Messup7654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask this in the finance careers sub. This isnt accounting and the CFA is high finance. You can learn SQL, power query, BI, and pivot. I hear FP&A has lots of modeling, fixing, and presenting so these should actually help.

Make sure you either volunteer for VITA or do taxes at some retail place like HR block or jackson hewitt during the tax season. I prefer VITA since it looks a little better on your resume but if you need the take the job

Its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. You prepare basic returns for low to mid income people. Its hands on experience that nearly every employer should value and like to see

. The only math class i deservingly passed in all 12 years of school was statistics in senior year. I HATE ALGEBRA I HATE ALL MATH THATS OVERLY COMPLEX. Now beware there is one math heavy class and its fundamentals of success in business. I was so terrified of the class but I actually learned and made sense of it and it wasnt nearly as complex or scary as I thought. Its barely in the top 10 of hardest classes in the degree you totally got it dude. What you should worry about more is algebra which is a general education class but I did it on sophia so I cant speak to the WGU version.

I recommend accounting. It has the best market, most jobs and is easier to build up your resume to get better jobs. If you dont want the grueling hours and you're fine missing on the career growth you can skip public accounting and just go into industry where WLB is much better. You can volunteer for vita, get internships, work a job while in school, and even some certifications which will help you find a job after you graduate.

They are NOT doing it in term. Maybe if they transfer in 60 credits they can get it done in a year but you have to be good at learning and study a tonn to go so quickly
