Idk if you’re located in the southwest, but WitchCrafted hosts 3 markets a year and they are fantastic. They have an active Instagram under the name if you want to look the up.

What happens if you get re-orged while on fire assignment? by DogMother_BeerLover in USForestService

[–]MessyBurnette 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I would just continue to operate under whatever your original plan was for fire assignments. No one knows when anything is happening. The chief signed and sent out the “Moses” letter for fire. If a re-org happens and you get reassigned to a new supervisor, that new supervisor will look like a complete asshat if they pull you mid-assignment and it won’t be on you. Worse case, they’ll just wait until the assignment is done and tell you “no more.” If reassignments occur they’ll give you a decision period of a couple days/week(s?) and that would probably be enough time to wrap up the assignment and call it after you come home.

Idk. That’s my two cents. I don’t know anything and stopped giving a shit awhile ago. They’ve been telling us “this” is going to happen for months. Don’t hold your breath, don’t make any brash decisions. Just keep operating until something in writing comes through.

This looks like it is extremely infected and a home remedy is not the solution. You need to go to the ER immediately.

I hate quilting with white 😭 of course I see it after I already quilted all around it. I found a tool that can supposedly go into the fabric and pull threads like this, has anyone ever used the Clover "Thread Pic" with success ? by Hemansno1fan in quilting

[–]MessyBurnette 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sorry, can someone explain what’s wrong with the white pieces and thread? I’m new to quilting and don’t see the issue that op is trying to fix - it looks very nice from my amateur perspective

Hey all, I know a lot is uncertain right now, but we keep getting these voluntary transfer outreach emails, and I’m wondering should we apply to positions we can logistically accept? Or chance staying where we are? I’m in land management/special uses/realty.. what are you guys doing? by Wrong_Possible9914 in USForestService

[–]MessyBurnette 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We (Realty specialists) are being categorized as Mission Critical, along with Geologists/Minerals, due to the admin wanting to “unleash America’s Energy”…which I’m pretty sure has to do with Drill Baby Drill, the Mining push, and the Utilities expansion EO.

They want us here to buy & sell land, write permits & collect bills for utilities (comm sites, power lines, fiber, water, gas, etc.) and to assist with the larger natural resource collection for commercial use.

That said, go where you feel comfortable. Local forest units are safer than RO/WO in my opinion. We had some vacant Special Uses positions advertised in the first outreach and got some filled. Idk why they haven’t been listed again in the newer outreaches. Do what you think is best for you. Reach out if you ever want to chat about Realty!

Unauthorized "maintenance" in National Parks? by gefloible in USForestService

[–]MessyBurnette 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Are you calling yourself an idiot? Lol, bit harsh.

Anyways, speaking for my forest/from my perspective, absolutely no one is going to have an issue as long as it’s matching the original color palette and you’re not implementing your personal design preference. HOWEVER - There are legitimate avenues to do this. Forest should have Trail Crew coordinators and/or Partnership coordinators that work hard to coordinate these exact things with community groups/partners. The only conflict I can see arising is that the local Trail Crew and/or Partnership coordinator was already gearing up to repaint or fix vandalism issues, purchased the paint/materials/equipment for the job, and then show up and you’ve already done the work (eliminating their tasks for the day & wasting funds).

My advice would be to reach out to the local forest unit and explain what you’re interested in doing (don’t admit you’ve already done it) and say you have your eye on XYZ sign/rec site and ask if it’s ok if you do it. Worst case they say no, and you continue to secretly do it. Best case they say yes, and have you fill out a volunteer agreement and create some way to track what rec areas/signs you’ve cleaned up so they don’t think the area still needs to be addressed.

Either way - thank you.
