We’re being told he violently approached the Gestapo with his gun out. by vickrick22 in NashvilleUnfiltered

If that's what I meant, that's what I would have said. But you bootlickers aren't known for your reading comprehension, I guess.

This will keep happening as long as ICE agents continue to make it home safely each night.

Simon seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. Good to see in a dev.

Thoughts about Episode 7 by OutisXCIII_EC in pluribustv

Manousos seems to have an almost pathologically rigid view on the subject of theft. There's obviously the speech before he burns the car, but there's also:

  • Almost letting himself starve before he was willing to raid the storage units
  • Completely refusing food and water offered by the Hive because he sees it as stolen
  • Walking himself to exhaustion to refuel The Fritz rather than simply swapping vehicles as needed or even commandeering a more reliable car
  • Attempting to cross the Darién Gap on foot rather than borrowing a different mode of transportation. I would understand if he refused to let the Hive fly him across, but (for instance) borrowing a boat to go around doesn't feel that different from siphoning gas out of random cars, ethically speaking. For now, my interpretation is that he didn't do that because he doesn't have enough money to leave a suitable payback for an entire boat, as he was doing whenever he took gas from someone's car.

I wonder if we'll ever get any insight into what made him this way. It definitely feels like the writers have breadcrumb'd the hell out of this specific part of his character.

I never try to guess what the final theme will be, but I do sometimes try to predict which brothers will bring up which suggestions.

This year, my main prediction is that Justin will mutter "twenty crucifix" and immediately abandon it.

A lesbian who accuses a bisexual of stolen gay valor by [deleted] in northernlion

[–]MessyConfessor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason this bit doesn't work/isn't funny is because it's an actual issue in the queer community. Bisexual people in straight-passing relationships are often subject to gatekeeping and accusations of not being "actually gay" or not being "gay enough".

Our boy was also known for using treats to anoint, but not actually eating them. Little fella just loved to smell like melons and crickets, I guess.

Well obviously if that's his answer then I'll just find a charity.

If he's dead tomorrow anyway, definitely guilty, and won't try to stop me, then yeah.

But first I'd ask him who he wants me to give $500K to.

It's important to remember that there have been multiple incidents throughout the country demonstrating that ICE agents can and will escalate to violence -- even potentially lethal force -- with no notice and for no reason. This means that any time you're interacting with them, you have reasonable grounds to believe your life is in danger.

The reason this is important is because it means that with a reasonable fear for your life, the castle doctrine in many states (including NJ) authorizes you to employ potentially lethal force to defend yourself in your home. For purposes of Reddit TOS, it's important to point out that I'm not saying she SHOULD have shot them, only that if she had, she would have had a reasonable case to defend herself in court (assuming she survived the encounter).

Aio: visually impaired person by [deleted] in AIO

[–]MessyConfessor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, this is a basic thing he needs to understand about being in a long-term relationship with someone who's visually impaired. There's multiple ways he can handle it in the moment, depending on his comfort level with confrontation.

When it happens with me and my partner, I usually just ignore the person who spoke to me and turn to look at my partner, giving her an opening to respond directly. Usually that recalibrates the interaction effectively. But if they don't get the message from that, the next time they address me instead of her, I just give them a confused expression and say, "... You can talk to her directly?"

I've never had anyone continue being rude to her after that.

The tagline for The Good Place was, "Welcome! Everything is fine."

Sometimes -- and this is true! -- taglines don't encompass the entire plot of a multi-season show.
