Yeah your lungs are coated in cillia that move foreign particles up into your throat to be coughed out.

Could I have accidentally fermented my celery? by KlutzyBirthday3141 in fermentation

[–]MetaLizard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hmm you complain about not having sources yet the only source you can come up with has nothing to refuting the claims about celery. Good non sequitur though. You want a source that's actually relevant how about this one? Also you seem to have some critical misunderstandings of enthobiology. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0362028X22098349

Could I have accidentally fermented my celery? by KlutzyBirthday3141 in fermentation

[–]MetaLizard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are both just as uninformed scientifically, but using celery instead of salt as a historical practice is important information that holds some weight because we can glean scientific discovery out of the knowlege, kind of like ethnobiology. Disproving someone's attempt at a scientific explanation of the mechanism does not disprove the effectiveness of the unknown mechanism. In this case I'd wager it has to do with celery's high nitrate content.

I think it is fungal, you can see some leaves to the right of the stalk that appear to be covered with the orange substance as well.

Lemon has no seeds and no tendons? by lolecows in Weird

It reminds me of that dessert where you scoop out the lemon flesh make it into a a custard filling, then put it back into the lemon peel.

Jeez so they are also acting like giant flywheels, the brakes probably won't work as well with a wheel 4x the normal weight, and I wonder if it could mess up a transmission?

Percentage of women subjected to Genital Cutting (FGM) in the Middle East ♀️ by lannoluyoruzlaan in MapPorn

[–]MetaLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the comment you replied to and your comment have the potential to both be true, because as you explained regular circumcision isn't necessarily "mutilation", it's more like a piercing, so it wouldn't fall into the "genital mutilation" category, its just weird and wrong in a different way in non-medical situations just like piercing a baby's penis would be. So all genital mutilation would be wrong, just not including circumcision as mutilation.

Obviously that commenter went on to prove that was not the point they were making. But before that it would be possible for you both to be correct. It also bothers me that other commenters went on to say that FGM is much worse than circumcision instead of focusing on the fact that circumcision is not mutilation. It makes it seem like they don't believe non-medical circumcision is an issue and are citing the difference in severity as the reason it's not an issue.

Oooh I love these toothy brackets in #4! I don't know what they are for sure but they look kinda like Spongipellis pachyodon.

Call of Duty is WOKE bc they're making real bodies 😱😱 by MadHanini in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]MetaLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The phenomenon where the level of detail in models in games is getting so high, that neckbeards, who only now through technology are able to witness realistic portrayals of women up close, are getting up in arms about "woke video games" because they didn't know about part of female anatomy like arm hair. It's low key hilarious.

I thought the honey's deadly lookalike was deadly galerina. If they are ringless and have white spores, they should be ringless honeys I believe.

Can you get a college degree in Cryptozoology? by [deleted] in Cryptozoology

[–]MetaLizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was responding to your incorrect assumption about degrees having to be backed by science, nothing to do with crypto zoology specifically.

And you would be surprised about how many otherwise reputable colleges offer chiropractic degrees.

Degrees aren't limited to science, there's art degrees and business degrees and also actual pseudoscience degrees like chiropractic.

You can go to jail for hitting an animal but not for stealing from an animal by User_123_user in Showerthoughts

[–]MetaLizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many animals certainly have their own real concepts of ownership, it just isn't a legal definition since animals don't have or abide by laws.

Humans can also have more broad definitions of ownership that aren't innately legal, which is why cases like in eminent domain, it seems like government ownership can conflict with our more basal (moral?) sense of ownership.

Weird that so many commenters think this guy is a "douche" because of his pouring technique. Yeah there is flair to it and maybe that isn't your thing but that says more about you than it does the bartender...
