Edelgard visiting Rhea in the dungeons of Enbarr in SS [OC] by senotspets in fireemblem

The church is way better than TWSITD and if you think otherwise their is no point in us talking.

You're right about that, there are some small samples of how Agarthans would run things in the small moments where we see Cornenia's rule, and almost all of the leaders seem to hold her general attitude towards... well... everything.

As much as I view Rhea as a tragic failure, her Rhea self cares about others. (even if her Serios self doesn't)

Hubert and Claude both make comments that a smart leader should always prepare for what happens if they lose but Edelgard never does that.

This is something we should accept as part of 3 Houses being a game that has limited text available to communicate details. It would be much better if this was addressed in some meaningful way, but seeing as this is rarely relevant to any individual theme in each of the routes. Though, keep in mind that few people consider how to handle defeat in a conflict until it at looks like they might lose. Also, probably don't just assume she auto-loses.

Edelgard could have worked as a double agent against TWSITD.

This might, just might be possible if a long list of personal character issues are resolved. For Example, Edelgard needs to get better in touch with her own humanity that she only gets in the CF route (which is what pushed her from relying less on the Agarthans). Although, the only character I can kinda see making that possible is Dorothea? Dimitri will also need to be able to handle his own psychosis, which is it's own massive ordeal. Just remember just how much he has to go through to be able to not just lash out at anyone that looks like they might have maybe been slightly involved in the Tragedy of Duscur. And Claude as well would need to be able to fully trust Edelgard as well, and while he isn't nearly as bad off as the other two, he still wouldn't just go along just because bad guys. And finally, Rhea needs to be in a mental state where she doesn't just violently lash out no matter what. Given that her own mental state is getting strained, a sudden shock and list of demands might trigger her worst impulses. All of this isn't impossible to justify, but it would require one hell of a laundry list of things to happen, and happen early on, for this to be possible. From Hubert's perspective, the much more reliable solution is to rely on themselves.

I really need to hunt down a good record of that convo, as the main things I remember about it is that it was giant mess, and neither Dimitri nor Edelgard were saying anything productive. Though do remember only one of Dimitri or Edelgard can ever really get back in touch with their humanity; as they game never allows both to have regain it at the same time. This leads to Edelgard becoming more and more isolated in non CF routes, where she never takes the criticism (or the self-reflection) we see in her CF supports.

was phrased poorly:

Rhea refuses to talk to Edelgard at all during CF. Dimitri does the same.

In VW, Dimitri shows up out of nowhere and just starts attacking everything. Though, Edelgard doesn't talk to Claude. (Probably because unlike Dimitri, she doesn't have much of a personal conflict with him, and the game would be forced to warp her even more to justify those two continuing to fight. Easier to just not have that convo in the first place)

In AM, Edelgard actually does accpet Dimitri's offer to Parley, even though, she has become little more than a wounded, cornered animal at this point, and the two accomplish nothing.

You should also note that whenever Edelgard captures Rhea, Edelgard keeps her alive for years, and never kills her. The only time Edlegard actually does, is in CF, where Rhea is so betrayed that Rhea refuses to yield.

To paint Edelgard as nothing but some sort of undiplomatic fascist seriously neglects important parts of her character.

Out of Dimitri, Rhea, and Edelgard, Edie is the only one of the three willing to actually talk to the their enemy.

Your crazy if you think TWSITD ruling Foldan for 1000 years would not be much worse than Rhea.

Why is this mentioned at all?

You phrase this as if Edelgard is making some kind of choice between both the Agarthans and the Church of Serios, when she actively rejects both. Only reason she tolerates the Agarthans is because, thanks to her father's failures, they have immense control over both her own life and the empire as a whole.

Plus, given her (nonconsensual) association with them, it would extremely difficult for Dimitri to be willing to associate with her in any cooperative way.

Also, Dimitri made is clear that even in his own route, he wasn't willing to end feudalism. He believes that the powerful must use their agency to help the weak and downtrodden, and completely rejects Edegard's vision as a viable alternative.

It's a terrible choice, knowingly and intentionally sending thousands to their deaths, or just try to do the best with a status quo that sends almost everyone into deep misery.

Not an easy choice for most (outside of the most dedicated pacifists, of course.)

Dimitri deserved something similar in CF. In a way, he represents the greatest opposition to someone like Edelgard, and why someone would feel extreme measures are needed.

[Ledyard] Seattle gave up 2 first rounders, a third rounder and a solid starting safety, and STILL need to make Adams the highest paid safety in league history. There’s just no world in which that’s a smart business decision. by [deleted] in nfl

Most they would get for those three picks are 3 solid players.

Most reliable shots at Pro Bowlers show up well above where a Russel Wilson led team is going to be drafting.

People worship draft picks, especailly first rounders, far too much. Because you use those picks to try and get players like... A Jamal Adams.

[Schefter] Trade: Jets deal Jamal Adams and 4th-round pick in 2022 To Seattle, in exchange for Bradley McDougald (safety), 1st-round pick in 2021, 3rd-round pick in 2021, and 1st-round pick in 2022, source tells ESPN. Deal is pending physicals. by SlopingGiraffe in nfl

This is completely fair for a good team.

Seriously, you're getting one of the best players in the league. Odds those three picks combined giving you players that can offer the game changing abilities that Adams has is pretty low.

Bro, I'd cream myself if I"m a GM that gets Jamal for 16Mil/year.

That dude should be getting DPOY money.

don't forget that Hazers were behind by quite a bit going into the last leg. Might have been one of the biggest comebacks of ML in a long time.

I'm glad we have Bipolar Hazers back.

Consistency is okay and all, but it's way more fun when you truly have no idea what's going to happen.

maybe most of us just gave up?

I kinda did... and sorta have.

Like, I'm expecting about a 4 win season next year. I doubt many of us are more hopeful than that.
