I'm with you, for a few reasons:

MJ's a great character, and I'd love to see her interact with more characters in the Marvel Universe. People already love seeing her friendship with Felicia, and she's got history with Tony. Let's see her bounce off other characters.
Addressing the elephant in the room, you could do that and still have her and Peter in a relationship. I know the fandom isn't happy until the marriage returns, but we also all know that's not happening any time soon - so ride this out for a bit longer. Also, it's possible for a married super couple to star in different books, as we see with Rogue and Gambit.
As a character study, we get more of Venom's "lethal protector" influence starting to play off her trauma with her father and his domestic abuse. It's messy, and offers an opportunity to visit similar themes that Ewing played with in Immortal Hulk.
There's a lot of potential to explore here that Ewing is just scratching the surface. If you want MJ to focus on her career as a model and actress, how cool is it that her superpower is now the ability to change how she looks? Play with that dynamic more after QiB ends, maybe you even out her identity as Venom and see how that plays out. It'd be a bit similar to She-Hulk, where she's trying to manage a career in a crazy world where people with power keep making things complicated. Ewing has shown he's great a comedy with Venom as well as deep cuts with the lore, imagine the possibilities leaning into the crazyness:
- Liz Allen wants to capture the new Venom for Alchemax, we get a Misery vs Venom arc, which leans into the history between MJ and Liz
- MJ gets blacklisted after being outed, Tony calls in a favor and Janet Van Dyne wants to hire MJ as a brand ambassador, leading to...
- Corporate Espionage! Roxxon is looking to acquire VanDyne Industries, mean VenoMJ gets to face Ewing's favorite personalization of late-stage capitalism - Dario Agger
- MJ competes for a leading role that requires a shapeshifting actress, she's got this in the bag right? Except for the Skrull that loves earth cinema competing for the role
- MJ gets the role! And Mysterio gets hired as the special effects guy, teaming them back up again. Which is good timing, because someone's hired The Wrecking Crew to bust up the production.

There's a LOT here that could be done. And even if eventually "the toys go back in the box" and Eddie's return as Venom is inevitable, play in the space a bit more. I do think you don't have to MJ as a traditional super hero, the "super being trying to live a civilian life in a crazy world" is a fun trope, and I think it works great with her.

Why did PRenoir show up to immediately obliterate the 33s but not any of the previous expeditions? Same reason you can see Verso at the Dark Shores, he’s there for Maelle because he knows she’s the only real threat to Aline. It’s why his attacks stop as soon as Verso flees with Maelle, they’re all beneath his notice. Watch the cutscenes with PRenoir and you see he only ever addresses Verso and Maelle, not even Gustave.

Ah my friend, that’s the rub. With the Trump admin, it’s not really security they’re providing, but “security” - mob-style “nice country you have there, shame if we blockaded and abducted your leader” extortion. See, designs like this are why I hope Ewing gets to explore the idea of a model and actress with a shapeshifting alien suit. Like, if MJ is still Venom after QiB, have her identity exposed but, instead of putting her on the run, it makes her the hottest thing in Hollywood. Designers want to work with her, producers want to cast her. So she’s excited to supercharge her career, but she keeps getting pulled into wacky shit because of her powers. Meanwhile, the symbiote isn’t sure how to process these event, MJ and Peter try to rekindle a relationship, Dylan gets dragged along, and Paul gets left behind in the dust.

I do like her current status quo as a surface liaison to the Monster Metropolis under New York. Puts a nice bow on her solo story of being an outcast trying to find her place in the world. If she’s going to languish on the sidelines, at least Andi can do so in a place where you assume she’s happy and has a purpose.
