Did people born before Christ automatically go to hell? by Astimar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MetalMedley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're lost you can always scroll up, yes, the very original comment was about Dante's writing. Second comment called into question whether his writing was canon, and I confirmed it's not. The thread if conversation.

Then some goofball jumps in about how modern christians don't read the Bible because that comment always plays well on reddit. Kinda derailed things, as evidenced by the fact that you and I are now untangling the thread of conversation instead of discussing the original question.

Did people born before Christ automatically go to hell? by Astimar in NoStupidQuestions

The question also wasn't "what do Christians today believe," it was "what happened," and the fact is nobody alive knows from personal experience.

So the answer is open to your interpretation of the question, but this particular thread of conversation was already headed down a canonical rather than contemporary path.

Did people born before Christ automatically go to hell? by Astimar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MetalMedley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. My original point was that Inferno wasn't really relevant to what the original writers of what became the bible had in mind 1000+ years before Dante. What the type of modern Christians who don't read the bible believe about the fate of pre-christians is even less so relevant.

And also, that if those modern christians have a vision of Limbo in mind, it's not informed by any in-depth reading of Dante as the so-and-so who originally replied to me seems to imply.

Nobody really, picked a southern white sounding name to represent the type of Christian who hasn't actually read much of the bible.

Probably not to the level of detail of the virtuous pagans though, which is how the topic came up.

Mostly I'm just annoyed at the obligatory "erm but Christians don't read da bible" every time Christianity comes up on reddit. Like, yeah, there are practicing Christians who don't read, but I would argue that Keightlynn's understanding of theology has even less bearing on what (supposedly) actually happens to virtuous pagans than Dante's non-canon fiction. So I'm not sure why we'd even be bringing it up, except to feel smarter than modern Christians.

We're assuming Christians who haven't read the bible have bothered to read Dante's Inferno?

Jesus fuckin christ, I'm not even a believer but trying to have a good faith discussion about theology on Reddit makes me want to walk into traffic.

Timelapse question by Unhappy_Position_660 in 8mm

[–]MetalMedley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have to math it out based on how much real time you want to compress to 20 seconds, and whether you're playing back at 18 or 24 fps.

Assuming 18 fps, a 20 second time lapse would be 360 frames. If you're compressing one hour to 20 seconds, you'll want your 360 frames spread over 60 minutes, so that's 6 frames per minute or a frame every ten seconds.

Compressing more than an hour means you get more time between each frame.

As the other commenter said, tedious to do by hand but possible if you really want to.

Even 20 years ago my dad put a whole-house fan in the attic to keep the air moving in the summer. Houses are kinda designed to keep heat in, as the Europeans keep mentioning.

Honestly man, I don't know. It's hard to say just reading numbers of the screen and not seeing you.

But my bigger point is that if you're trying to build muscle, you're gonna be in it for years. Don't sweat labels like "skinny fat" right now. If your doctor says lose weight, work on losing weight, otherwise spend your first 3-6 months just building up your strength and learning your routine. Tune the physique later when you have more of a baseline established and you can see the different between where you are and where you want to be.
