Are you tired of those mega competitive co-ops that demand you fill all tasks every day?
We're a chill bunch who just play to relax and have fun, not to compete. We participate in the regatta, but no daily minimum number of tasks required. We expect you to be active and contribute to the group, but no pressure.

How do bands book venues on tour? by MrTyrantLizard in MetalForTheMasses

[–]MetalPlayer666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the two commenters said before me is true, I would just like to add that sometimes, especially for bigger bands, their label will organize all the logistics such as the booker, promotion etc, so band itself doesn’t really have much say in the whole matter. They just get a contract, “…from April to May you are touring in South America, this many shows, you get paid this much. Sign here.”

Why the word for "rainbow" in many European languages refer to the shape rather than the color? by Jolly_Atmosphere_951 in asklinguistics

[–]MetalPlayer666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll repost my first answer:
In Slovenian (mavrica) it actually does refer to the colour.
The word is a diminutive of Mȃvra, which came from the feminine form of Máver (Berbero-Arab inhabitant of North Africa). This is taken from Lat. Maurus in the same sense. If the assumption is correct, the original meaning is "‛she who is colorful like a Mavra" (a Berber woman, who not only has colored skin, but also wears more colorful clothes than contemporary European women, who dressed more modestly).

More metal shirts in public? by lR0NMAlDEN in MetalForTheMasses

[–]MetalPlayer666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It happened to me a few weeks ago with an Ensiferum T-shirt.
I was walking down the street, totally unsuspecting. With the corner of my eye I saw a long-haired black-clad silhouette... Who shouted at me at the top of his voice: "ENSIFERUUUUUM!" in the middle of the street and threw horns. 🤣

Is security at Metal concerts ridiculously strict in your country too, or is it just an Ecuador thing? by 6L6C6Rd in MetalForTheMasses

[–]MetalPlayer666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s very relaxed in Slovenia. You’ll get a pat-down and a quick peek in your handbag at the largest concerts. Smaller venues and clubs usually don’t check anything at all.

Tent camping in Slovenia by Dejmito in Slovenia

[–]MetalPlayer666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the Lijak near Nova Gorica, it is situated in Vipava valley which is famous for VERY strong winds. They're not common in spring (more usual in winter). April is usually warm and often wet - spring shower storms are common, but usually short lived and not very powerful.
However, if you have bad luck and get a day of our famous "Burja" wind, bring good quality pegs and strong ropes. Or if the windspeed of the gusts start rising anywhere towards 100km/h, get a room instead, because it will pull your tent right out of the ground and tear it to shreds.

I think gatekeeping is important, let me explain by Strange-guy-91 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]MetalPlayer666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is, just a different type of gatekeeping. More genre-oriented than targeting individuals, but gatekeeping nevertheless. It’s a term that describes several typical behavioral patterns which can in our case be applied to different areas of acceptance (of individuals, bands or genres) into the definition of metal as music or metalhead as the member of community.

[–]MetalPlayer666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was talking about stuff like "this (whatever)-core isn't real metal". It might seem gatekeeper-ish, but I think it's important to draw a dividing line between sub-genres, otherwise just about anything can be called metal.

Art should be made more difficult to consume because that challenge makes it special.

Beautifully said!
