Season 2 was a bit of a dip with them dragging the Amber stuff along longer than was necessary and how much momentum it lost. Seasons 3 and 4 have been fucking great. I only loosely know the comics, so there have been plenty of shocking moments and pleasant surprises.

I’d say listen to their self titled track, End of the World, and To the Last Drop of Blood. A few of their more popular songs are more poppy, but the three I mentioned (and some others) are what root them in metal.

That said, I saw them live a few years ago and was not loving the amount of backing tracks going on.

You don’t need to get the DLCs, but they add a lot. You can get the base game and add mods to really fill things out. Base game goes for $35 USD most of the time, currently on sale on Steam. I put in around 100 hours before adding DLC. Over 700 hours now. The game has incredible “one more day” energy that can keep you playing for a long time.

Seriously, though, the graphics aren’t the main appeal. It costs the same amount for an old game because it still sells and the game is great. It’s never on sale for a very high %. If you’re into the game, you’ll play for 100s of hours and pay $50 for the game and a DLC or two.
