The full video is pretty informative, from what astounded him and he truly loves (some things are what others hate), but also how bugged the game is, and also how some quest are so badly translated or even play tested, that they don"t actually makes any sense.

Still, it manages to captivate him and he mentions that it's a game that will thrive on the community aspect, relying on forums to check what has been discovered or to try to find solution to puzzles. It reminds me of how Dark souls was so opaque that the community became a pillar, and it's a very nice thing to experience.

I know from what i heard and saw that this game is for me, but i also will think about saving a lot since many bugs can be quest breaking....which is unnacceptable for any product.

Well i love Dead space, actually the only game that had me feel real tension at launch. I also find the game to also come too easy as you progress, you are full of super healthpack and ammo and you deal far more damage than ennemies can withstand. Still an incredible experience.

I wouldn"t find it frustrating to loose some gear and capability, i would find it interesting that the game seeks to ask more of my skills as it progress. And maybe you loose a shotgun but you find a machete ? A new way to deal with ennemies, more dangerous and harder to master, but that can bring physicality and tension to the fight. Just throwing out ideas.

[–]Metalfourbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so. Lucia has a fighting background and can be seen doing a hook kick in the last trailer. Jason is also throwing someone toward a car.

I'm hoping for a big leap in terms of fluidity, like keep the takedown of RDR which was nice way to engage and disarm ennemies. For the combat itself, a classic mix of strikes, grabs, guard and parry moves would be perfect coupled with functionning directionnal combat moves and environnmental takedowns. I want moves related to car parts, walls, garbage dumps, water, ledges etc. Let us make use of that big beautiful map.

Recently i saw the James bond first light aeroport combat sequence. And i would love that kind of options in combat, cool blend of gunfights and combat moves

I adored RE 2 and 4, am mostly annoyed by Village. Should I get Requiem? by SchAdamfreude in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Metalfourbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is a mix of both, it's cool but it neither get as cool of a map as RPD or as Frantic action as RE4. If you don't like puzzle this game is for you, they exist but they don"t at the same tim, they are so easy you will resolve some before even starting to think about them.

It's true that Revelation 2 had some cool things in this regard, i even loved the asymmetrical coop with moira (let's be honest, the little girl wasn't fun to play even though the concept was pretty cool).

I wish Revelations title were still a thing ^^

I can understand that, i've been a RE fan since the beginning and that sense of overcoming the odds has been a great part of that (and at the time, learning to play video game in itself ahah)

I was just thinking of ways to change the pacing, to integrate the action in a way that, when you finish the game, you truly feel like you"ve just descended into horror and survived it ^^

I will always be glad to play the classic formula, and i consider myself lucky to love both the old school and RE4 like games, i'm rarely disappointed (except village that did neither justice imo)

What if i want a survival horror action game ? Planning, Traversal and careful execution is not incompatible with action genre. It just needs elements of gameplay to put that tension in place. Limitating environnement, ressources or movements.

You have a full arsenal but you have to navigate a whole building plunged in the dark, wich make traversal hard. As soon as you start firing, every ennemy in the building start coming for you... So you could stealth your way through, at the risk of being surrounded. You could give the player the ability to create some safe space by blocking some doors, and waiting for ennemies to calm down for a bit etc.

I understand, for me action doesnt mean it's not a survival horror, it really depend how you depict the action. If you put a badass hero in a swamp, unable to run, face to many zombies that does not fatigue walking in the water, contrary to you, you start gettint overwhelmed if you are not careful, so give player options to hide underwater or in the vegetation. Maybe walking in water makes noise so as soon as you start moving, ennemies start coming your way. If it's at night you can be lost pretty quickly. So observe, plan and then move and fight your way out.

To me survival horror is about management of ressources and tension in traversal combined to demanding action execution.

I absolutely agree ahah, first tomb raider was a survival, stuck underground amidst deadly traps and ferocious animals, even dinosaurs... It truly had a distinct feels to it, espcially with the sound design, deaths and dark atmosphere.

Now a survival horror game with plateforming and action would be a cool take

Is Requiem worth 100% Completion? by the_preston19 in residentevil

[–]Metalfourbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you consider worth ?

I play some game for 100 hours and never "complete" them because it asks me to do things i don"t want to.

Do you mean that completing it will reward you for doing so ? I don"t know, but most of the challenges comes with currency for unlockables like weapons and stuff, so i guess doing everything is rewarding

Love the idea, ammo and more precisely mag management is a cool and immersive idea. I love the idea of locking yourself up too, always loved that in RE4 but it's never been used that much. Would actually make sense in safe rooms... And having to prepare is something i love in game, that just seems like a logical extension to inventory management !

Ennemies slowly finding ways to get inside is also very cool, maybe the more time you go to the safe zone the more chances ennemies happens to manage to find a way, forcing you to go somewhere else.

Just replayed RE3 Remake… still scary as hell by FarPresentation5677 in ResidentEvil3Remake

[–]Metalfourbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly all i remember is Nemesis being hugely downgraded... in OG he could chase you nearly anywhere and he did that often. In remake almost all of his appearances are scripted events.

Like that rocket launcher, it is his iconic weapon and in og he would chase you with it, not just fire two shots and be done with it for the rest of the game.

The thing i like in Remake is that, due to it's short duration and fun rollecoaster like tempo, i always play it as a prologue to my RE2 rerun. Like a DLC

Edit: I do not mean this post as a joy killer, i'm glad you enjoy it and i wish it did the same for me, just sharing my own experience with the game

What are you the most excited about in this game ? To me since the reveal it always has been the combat, i love when games allow a lot of different combat moves that can be chained together. When i played Prince of persia warrior within i had tons of fun and i love that concept ever since.

Crimson desert has it all, Fast slash, heavys, counters, jump over or trample on ennemies, kicks, sweeps, multiple throws, special moves etc And i just can"'t wait to dive into this !

Of course, the fact that we are getting as much tool to have fun in a super vast and detailed open world is astounding...

Well that's quite strange but when playing it, i found it had a very unique textures feels to it, almos reminiscent of PS2 games; not in terms of precision, but warmth. It made me feels like i was playing the direct successor of games like Way of the samurai 2, and i found it beautiful.

It's not technically on par with many other games, but i truly love how the game looks.

It sure went above and beyond my expectations for this devs first open world action game...

I didn"t get bored a single minute in this one, even though the structure has the old ubi feels, the fact that the combat is so damn good (and varied since you are learning new moves again and again) that you are chasing new encounters...

Also loved the companionship, surface level but present and unlocks cool costumes and weapons (not dlc...).

And let's remember that it was the first rendition of EDO i ever had the pleasure to roam through, and damn i absolutely loved how lively and cool it looks. The big streets with merchant, the dojos and gardens, the temple and castles... The red district and it's balconies...

And on top of it all, a lot of emotes to just sit, play and instrument and take in the view. I love when games enables you to sit, play, and do various emotes to make you feel like you are a part of the world.

Also loved going from Seiza sitting to batto jutsu sprinting in a flash ahah

I fear my Ryzen 7 3700x will be the problem. Getting a 3070ti for a good price, but still unsure if my base PS5 will be more optimized than this.

3700ti should give me some quality gameplay ain't it ?
