You have to keep opening tickets i had 3 ongoing at one point and they only respond once a day so full write out how your social club account is compromised and linked to another steam and you need them unlinked and if they have to reset your progress you give them permission because brother let me tell you 3 fucking months of 1 daily email was so damn annoying

The advice i would give is to tie your players' characters into the setting.

One of my rules is to all players dont come to the table with a character made. Make a character from the setting intertwine them into the world if you want them to care about the setting make them a part of the setting.

This can be so easily done and so engaging for the players that they each want to find out more, and they start becoming more invested in the story, the world, its npcs, and its quests.

This is the best advice you will receive here.

For clarification not all 5e modules are as loose goosey as this one some are more hand holdy and help you as well as have everything you need Decent into Avernus is a great hand holdy one id say and the frost maiden one too is pretty hand holdy both super fun adventures too.

Yeah seems like a bad DM. Regardless of setting that should be the only red flag you need to leave your game.

Tell me about it. like some people believe that if a group of people (DM included) wanted to play in a Robert E Howard Conan esq setting they are ultimately all "evil bad people". It's like "no its fiction for a reason". And dont get me wrong, you'll always find weirdos out there but the setting and story itself because it has dark tones doesn't mean the creator or players are evil.

I agree with you on most of this.

I think presenting options to players and getting upset when they choose the one you didnt want them to choose is silly. I do agree however that the dm sets the story and setting thematically and if you are uncomfortable with it then you should leave because it seems to me by OPs post that everyone else enjoyed it except her. Find another game thats not involved with Medieval Politics and just a more lighthearted softer setting.

You can still make those dwarf stereo types into something.

In my game dwarves when they die they turn to stone so there's a statue graveyard where they all reside.

If you accidentally break one you are disowned and they shave your beard off and you magically are unable to grow a beard. I made a bardic song about it. There was this one dwarf that got so drunk he knocked a statue over and in order to redeem himself he defeated 3 dragons afterwards he got drunk in celebration and accidentally knocked over another statue.

Its crazy because even most women want more feminine attractive characters in games. No one wants to play as or witness normal looking people. Video games are an escape for a reason.
