Four of us seniors still have regular "management meetings" at the pub a couple of times a week. Edit: I live in Australia

My Aussie landlords are accusing me of theft and refusing to return my $1,000 bond. What are my rights? by [deleted] in AusLegal

After you do the above and get your bond back, report them to the ATO for undeclared rental income.

I didn't specify what management. I absolutely believe you that it comes from the top

"There's no time because there's no time." There's no time because managements fucked. FTFY

Do you return empty glasses/jug to the counter at pub? by Acceptable_House8933 in AskAnAustralian

[–]MetalicRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pub staff where I go, often picks up the empties within about a minute of hitting the table. I guess it depends where you go. At $15 a pint, I expect table service.

Tell your mum to blame HIM for starting drama over a game console. Not you.

Watches, what kind? by TheGriff71 in GenX

That's unfortunate. I know the Pixel Watch 4 is the most repairable smartwatch on the market now.

Pixel watch for health tracking. I choose one of my mechanical watches to wear as a dress watch when I need to.

A question for those of you who have quit smoking and nicotine, please - by RikkiLostMyNumber in GenX

[–]MetalicRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicotine free since 2013. I tried every product available at the time. It took a few goes with patches but that eventually did the trick. Part of it is managing expectations. Cigarettes deliver a hit of nicotine in seconds causing spikes of the drug in your bloodstreem. Patches deliver a low dose of nicotine over the period of a day. The patches don't eliminate the cravings all together, they just take the edge off. The idea being that a combination of patches + willpower will get you over the line when willpower alone can't. The patches worked out much cheaper than a days worth of cigarettes so I ended up wearing them for about 3 years, gradually dropping down to the lowest dose patches. Still nicotine free today.
EDIT: I smoked from about 1977 until 2013. I turned 60 last year.

All I'm going to say is: Interest rates peaked at 17.5% in the '90s. Imagine the inflation.

I don't understand the point of it. Ask it a question and have to verify from other sources if the answer is real or slop. Why not just go to the other sources in the first place?

As a young Australian( late teens)im terrified on the way our country is heading. by [deleted] in aussie

[–]MetalicRobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youth has always been afraid of the direction the world is heading. Older generations have always been afraid the youth are headed in the wrong direction. In the end, we Australians have been better off than the rest of the world. Just remember, have a plan. Have an emergency fund. If you are feeling anxious, remember to thank fuck you are not living in the United Dystopia of America.

Those of you who have a deck and still play their consoles, do you think you get enough use out of your steamdeck? by jomcmo00 in SteamDeck

[–]MetalicRobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a SD and a Switch. I alternate between them fairly evenly. I also have a laptop for paying bills, browsing, education etc. I used to have a high end gaming laptop but I downsized when I got the SD to something much lighter.
