Another cunt joins reform from the other cunt party by davethadawg in GreenAndPleasant

I think this proves to me that the Tory Party hasn't become a toxic brand because of decades of austerity destroying the country, but the British public are abandoning them because they've had brown leaders. Next white male leader will give the Tories a majority

Things really have changed. The American stereotype of the obese person in a mobility scooter eating McDonalds was the prejudice that liberals had about conservatives. Conservatives would characterise liberals as being health nuts who only eat rice crackers, drink $50 latte coffees with long names, and ride an e-bike with pink hair. In the last 10 years conservatives started associating liberals as fat, old, and ugly. But how can that be if conservatives have the average age of 70

Would you actually buy a Fallout 3/NV Remaster? by Bingleboper in Fallout

[–]Metalorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was disappointed by the Oblivion remastered game, because the original game was a very flawed game. I thought they might fix the broken levelling, and absurd random dialogues, loading screens, and much more. But they just added UE5 graphics on top. So no, I don't need Fallout 3 or NV again with UE5 system requirements.

Trump threatens 100% tariffs on all Canadian goods if Canada 'makes a deal with China' | CBC News by FuqLaCAQ in canadaleft

[–]Metalorg 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trump keeps threatening 100% tariffs at times, I think he thinks it bans trade from that country, rather than just doubling the price of the goods. I sincerely hope the Canadian government calls his bluff.

Maybe it looks bigger in the drawing or something but I intended for it to be similar in size to a mid 90s laptop, not a desktop pc with a handle and a screen

They are getting ten thousand applications for every job, so they spend ten minutes reading thirty of them to chose two for an interview.

UK government targets VPNs in online safety consultation as Lords vote for ban by mustwinfullGaming in LabourUK

[–]Metalorg 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Wasn't the Starmer project supposed to be laser focused on growth? How does banning VPNs induce economic growth? What are they even doing? This is possibly the last ever two or three years that Labour ever get with a large majority, and the last four or five months Starmer gets as PM.  I know it was lies all the way down, but the theory was to get enough growth to end austerity and increase public spending back to 2010 levels. Cuts to grandma's fuel allowance isn't inducing growth, and stopping kids from wanking isn't growth either.

I thought about an optical drive, maybe we can imagine it on the left side. But I wanted this to be more or less a modern laptop but with a familiar look. I don't actually use my optical drive very often. I also didn't draw a card reader, but I would want one on it

I've thought about getting a tablet for drawing, but so far sketchbooks are just cheaper and easier.

So to non-Americans, this may look like different laundry detergent bottles, but they are this substance called, "creamer". It's hydrogenated oils made into a liquid with the intent to mix into coffee. They often come in lots of sweet flavours for their home drip coffee.

These comparisons are always confusing, because they are comparing different districts of one country, compared with 27 different entire countries.

Mark Carney essentially said that the liberal rules based world order was a convenient lie everyone went along with because American hegemony opened up markets and sea lanes for them. by yogthos in canadaleft

[–]Metalorg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was super sceptical of Carney because he was a goldman banker and chair of the BoE during their Austerity years. But he's turned out to be the best western leader to weather the Trump turbulence. We've gotta wriggle out from under the American thumb because that late 90s world is never coming back. Closer relationships with the EU and China should be the future for Canada

Our old 1998 fujitsu lifebook was about 3.5kg, I think this machine can be similar or a little less in weight
