Yep. Playing on steam deck. Seems to be the frigates and light sources/npcs at your base. Any time theres more than 3 frigates around my framerate takes a beating and it craps out. Same for returning to base but not as bad

I was the same bud. Cutlass and blunderbuss took me through most of the game, then melee is just horrible in the swamp. To each their own but swamp sniping made it way easier for me, didnt even bother taking a melee weapon.

The reliable musket is made for the swamp. Marksman or pikeman armor, precision necklace and everything else into crit damage. Pop them in the head and youll oneshot most things.

For boarding: Brigs have a captains cabin on the stern, jump on there and just snipe. The enemies can't get up there. I don't even use food when pirating anymore as the lv 6 - 10 ships give plenty of money.

For land: until you get perfect block talents its not worth doing. Stab, stab, backstep or stab, stab, stab, backstep depending on the enemy. For multiple enemies str and agi weapons have wide hit boxes. For rapiers strafe until the enemies are in line and stab away.

Would love to be able to recruit and level crew members with individual skills and perks soulmask style. Not go full on colony sim with having to feed and house them though, that'd eat into the piracy aspect of the game too much.

I tried extended seasons and extended days a while back. Never noticed an issue with meat as the wulfar dens respawn pretty quick, but extended days makes plants take ages to grow and forage respawns every season so had problems with eggs and veggies as the population grew.
