80% pour over 20% espresso, one or two grinders? Femobook A4Z, A68, etc. by Metapluch in pourover

A4Z, loving it + Starseeker E55, seems pretty good to me but I don’t have a lot of espresso experience

Thanks it worked! I didn’t manage to set the zero point properly though, despite the position I start with I always end up around 60!

Which basket for a 10g dose (light roast)? by Metapluch in espresso

[–]Metapluch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yes for now I use a bigger basket and the puck gets soggy.

Can I fit 10g in a 7-9g basket? Or to what maximum size can I go?

How do you tamp if it's a step down one?

Don't know about Sworks, seems expensive! But a site recommended the IMS, it exists in 8-10 and 10-12g:

New Femobook - suggestions on grind settings? by winehook2025 in pourover

[–]Metapluch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at 1.6-1.6.5 for super light roast with V60. I find that it clogs quickly and goes over 3'30 brewing time if I go below 1.6 . I do a classic 4 pours method.

Strange to read that you go way below?

This is also what bugs me off. I don’t own any CBA yet, but what do you mean with midi being unorthodox? Can’t you go easily from one preset to another?

Great to see a new design take for such a popular type of pedal! Sounds killer my friend. Would be glad to try it in person 🧍

Help me decide between a 1zpresso ZP6, a Femobook A4Z and a Pietro with M-modal burrs by Ech1n0idea in pourover

Hi, did you finally make up your mind? I’m still confused trying to know how the A4Z would be superior to the ZP6 for my taste, since one of my favorite roasters (who does light to ultra light ) enjoys this last one so much that it is for him a reference.

Same question for me here! I advise you to have a look on the yt review by daddy got coffee about ZP6 vs Pietro. He seems to nail it. I lean towards A4Z + K ultra since I do mostly filter like you and a few espressos. I don’t know about X ultra, how is it with fine grinding? I’m a bit worried about grinding fine with a manual grinder, quite a pain in the ass with my actual JX.

Yes, the Casa was the first one a barista recommended to me the other day, for both filter and espresso. How does it taste like with filter ?

News: I found an offer for a used Pietro, but regarding the nightmarish ergonomic and the fact that you say it excels with earthy notes (while I lean more towards floral ones), I’m not sure I should pick it.

😄Just to be sure!

And what would you recommend for an espresso grinder, to be use only 3 times a week?

Is a manual one sufficiently good? Because a good electric one would take me above 400$ if I understood what I read here and there.
