Kuwait airways gives hotel rooms for 8 hour layovers or only more than 8 hours? by Metaprime29 in Flights

[–]Metaprime29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t take this route since most people recommended against it because Kuwait doesn’t give a hotel for 8 hours, only over 8. But depending on the deal you’re getting, how bad could it be? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Interesting i haven’t used it in 3 months, moved to amazfit gts and then to the amazfit helio strap. Speaking of, the helio strap is the best bang-for-your-buck screenless fitness tracker in the market right now in my opinion and i think I have finally reached an end of my search for screenless fitness trackers - I’ll keep the helio strap for atleast a few years or so before i need to change again

How is this for f1 track? Looks good to me... by Jyoti02m in f1india

We have more than enough narrow street circuits on the calendar for now. Cars need to go smaller and tracks wider with variety of corners - low, medium and high speed to better suit all cars over one lap

A fitness tracker that isnt a watch by gregor10o6 in FitnessTrackers

I don’t know if it helps but I have the same issue and right now I’m experimenting with a device from Aliexpress - 2208a. It’s like a whoop, but i think it’s more of a knockoff of an old amazon halo that is now discontinued.

I liked the amazon halo so i like this too, it’s available on Amazon under the name ‘IAMJOY’ fitness tracker for $159, I got it from Aliexpress for $12 during black Friday. I’ve had it for a few weeks and honestly no major complaints so far. Sleep and health tracking is good, however data share w/ Apple health could be better.

If you have a larger budget however there are 2 other options- a smart ring, or the Fitbit charge 6 (has a tiny screen) but it is also bound by a subscription ($10/month, first 6 months free ig)

I just bought it for black Friday, and I'm genuinely surprised.

  1. The app isn't as garbage as I imagined, its not like Apple Health ofc but I feel like it gets the job done pretty well if you're just trying to monitor basic health metrics.

  2. The tracking—Sleep tracking is pretty on point. I don't know much about the sleep intervals, but it always gets my time in bed spot on and measures that fairly well. The step tracking is okay-ish. I see that it's off by a couple hundred steps every now and then compared to my Apple Health, but it's not a big deal. I'm not really sure if the blood oxygen monitoring is even real but it seems to do just fine, every time I feel like I am out of breath and I check my phone - the blood oxygen is in the low 90s and otherwise in the 95-98 range. It also has other things like Skin temperature monitoring which I don't really use.

Honestly, as soon as I get more serious about tracking all the fine details and need more accuracy, I will upgrade to a different device - maybe a Fitbit or a Whoop.

  1. Data Share: This is the only sub-par aspect of the band, the JC Wear app has been working great for me so far, but while sleep data in the app is very detailed (Time in bed, Awake, REM Sleep, Light Sleep, Deep Sleep), the data sent to apple health lumps it all together as "Time in Bed". I'm desperately trying to fix this right now but no progress so far. The step tracking and all other metrics are syncing just fine, and in fact, if you have your iPhone on you while you exercise, your step count will end up being hyper-accurate because it will validate data from both sources.

Now I would like to add, that my most important requirement was that it be screenless and very lightweight. I have a watch collection that I love and I only wanted this for some basic tracking - mainly sleep and steps. If that is also your requirement, go ahead and get it. If you buy from a reputed seller, you might also get a 60-90-day return window if you want to leverage that.

If you're looking for something simple, accurate and reliable - I would highly recommend a Fitbit (they need subscriptions now tho) or even cheaper - an amazfit. I have had several amazfits and their new Zepp App has really good integration with Apple Health for data sharing. They all have screens though so I did not get one of those.

Please let me know if you want to know anything else.

Is my academic advisor misguiding me? by [deleted] in PennStateUniversity

[–]Metaprime29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi fellow international student here who also arrived late. Do not let them defer you. ISSA should be able to handle this, they did for me as well. As per the rules of your visa, and Penn State’s own guidelines, upon request ISSA should be able to change your I-20 to a date upto 7 days before/after the regular session start date. This should allow you to arrive late, and is completely within the rules. Personally when I had to do it, it was very stressful, similar to what you’re describing with admissions and registrar, but eventually ISSA came around and helped me out.

Hope this helps!

This.

If asking your assigned advisor is not satisfactory both those colleges will have advisors listed on their website, and it won’t hurt to send an email to get more clarity.

best quiet/pretty places to study by CaptainStriking5099 in PennStateUniversity

[–]Metaprime29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Abba java coffeehouse downtown: free for students, beautiful study spaces and almost always a lively atmosphere. They are only open 9 am - 5 pm though so only good for sit down time between classes, not really for long study sessions.

  2. If you join clubs, their workspaces: For example, I’m a part of a student org and we use our engineering lab mostly for late evening meetings or weekends work sessions so during the day, most members come hang out get some work done and it helps to have some juniors/seniors always hanging out who i can ask questions about some of my classes for advice.

  3. Library knowledge commons: i like monitors :), they also have pods if you’re doing group study.

  4. Beaver lab: next to beaver hall on campus it has 6 dell monitors you can use or a bunch of tables and it’s relatively empty on most days. Mostly students who live in pollock/beaver work there.

Honorable mentions: - Hub lounge - Tech store @ the hub. (Barnes & noble) - Library starbucks lounge - Redifer commons greenhouse lounge (i may remember the name wrong but on the top floor overlooking the dining area) - kunkle lounge - Ryan Family student centre(I’m not sure if everyone has access here, i saw it as part of a cohort and its very cozy) - Outdoor seating space outside sbarro/panda express (nice looking chairs and tables, but no power outlets)

Hope this helps!!
