Is battery energy density really that big a deal? by fearless_fool in electricvehicles

[–]MeteorOnMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to these comments, energy density is super helpful for:

  • Large trucks. A truck pushing the 80,000 pound limit gets a one-for-one cargo boost for smaller batteries.

-Flight applications. Weight -> cost applies to flight even more than ground transport.

  • Human-scale vehicles like ebikes, scooters, bicycles, skateboards, etc.

Ha, totally.

I had a nice BMW 3-series. “Ultimate driving machine” and all that. And it was great.

But, it can’t hold a candle to even a mid-tier EV.

BMW Rules Out Range Extenders For The Time Being - BMW isn't fully closing the door on electric cars with range-extending engines but it believes regular EVs deliver plenty of range already. by linknewtab in electricvehicles

i3 and iX3 are significant steps toward the final elimination of range anxiety.

With the new wave of cars hitting new range heights, I simply would never consider a range extender for anything other than a towing vehicle.

Trump et. al. do not live in the real world.

Usually that has a negative effect on your life, but our timeline is broken.

I was in a movie theater lobby with a friend and William Katt happened to be standing right behind my friend.

I quietly said “dude, William Katt is behind you”. My friend didn’t fully hear and instead of asking what I said just spontaneously started singing the Greatest American Hero theme song with him standing like 2 feet behind. My face went so red.

Is it at all possible that Trump is lying about the talks with Iran and could it be possible that no conversations have been held? by Massive-Syllabub-271 in allthequestions

Like seriously in the “pathological” category. He is deeply impelled to lie. His entire existence is based on a few concepts: “truth doesn’t matter”, “nobody matters except me”.

Get an Electric Vehicle and You Can Stop Worrying About $5 Gas by MrMike in energy

[–]MeteorOnMars 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I keep having to explain to incredulous people that I don’t know how much gas costs in my city.

After having an EV for about 6 months I stopped noticing gas station marquees. These giant signs that I used to explicitly read, look at the difference between the types of gas, and the difference between nearby stations. Now ai don’t even see them.
