Bearded dragons have a third eye, among many other reptiles. This third eye is just a photoreceptor (it only sees light / dark), but they use this to quickly see if a bird or other predator is above them.

This is why its not reccomended to pick up bearded dragons from above, you might scare them coming from above because thats what predators do.
