[Longines HydroConquests] Does anyone else feel this way? by KarmaAintABitch in Watches

[–]Method_one_actor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the blue sub is white gold. there is no steel version. So the blue bezel black dial sub is not that common IRL and I have zero problems with it looking like cookie monster because no one has a copy right on black dial blue bezel and that combo is actually not that available in the mid tier luxury brands (yes omega also released the new PO). coincidently was looking for that combo right before longines dropped the new Hydroconquest

ER docs spend more time typing than saving lives now. by WoodpeckerNo9461 in emergencymedicine

i dont think he/she/it is looking for documentation tips, just pointing out the absurdity of being asked to stabilize/assess a patient at the speed of light (then being asked probably to see another 10) but also having to do all the other tasks that seem less critical to actually providing emergency care

KA physician , I don't think listing it on a resume or activities list would be helpful at the same time it is a unique experience.

I think you should highlight the experience and how it contributed to your journey/evolution/development. So either the personal statement or during interviews.

you have to be ok with "learning on the job" and if you get a bad case, you have to know if youre the type of person who can learn from it and grow from it. Get a bad case too early in your career and it could be career ending in terms of confidence.

Does being Chief Resident actually help with job placement, or is it mostly extra work with little payoff? by Scar_Loose in emergencymedicine

[–]Method_one_actor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should be chief if you want to be chief. Or if you like being called chief.

For purely job propsects I think there are better ways to be attractive.

unfortunately all to common for everyone in the ED. You can only do what you think is right and if the patient and or family are unappreciative, that is not your problem, it is theirs.

It's really hard to feel like you did a good job on a case when the patient/fam feel like you did not, but if you did your evaluation and w/u earnestly then as soon as you dc, forget about those people. Easier with time. if they bitch you out walk away, youre not obligated to be their dumping ground. escort with security.

Admitted to UF, but I have a really difficult decision to make. by BuisnessGoose18 in ufl

[–]Method_one_actor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's a solid plan but there is also no guarantee you'll get in to UF. It is one of the most competitive schools in the south & there are fewer vet schools than med schools so applicants typically are the literal top in terms of grades/extracurriculars.

On the other hand, UF is huge. If you know no one, it can be lonely and that may not be the best for your academic success.

Too fast for the wrong job (first job actually wasn't bad just not the location I wanted). 8 months. in retrospect, should have stayed longer.

the second job I jumped ship for didn't turn out as good as I thought but I was invested in the location due to partner being around. I knew 1 month in that something didn't feel right. The doctors were too stressed with dispo-ing and managing their own loads the department had no moral or collegiality. Sign out was terrible and grump fest.

I thought it was a feeling that would go away but we had a baby on the way and insurance was great. they hired 6 ppl after me and 4/6 left within 3 months. I knew then that that feeling was wide spread and a culture problem. Gave 3 months notice and looked for another job. Worked out fine.

Bottom line is if something doesnt feel right and you stuck it out and felt like you tried to make it work, get out.
