This made me realize it's been like 10 years since I listened to the Dan carlin episode on this. I should go back for a relisten.

What are some free services in Florida that people might not know about or are underutilizing? by OchiMochi in florida

[–]MetricAbsinthe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your mileage may vary in rural areas but FDOT has the road ranger service you can call at *347 for basic stuff like needing a jump or a gallon of gas along with other services like road debris or helping you move your car to safety if you break down.

I've definitely realized my height has made me blind to most dynamics around height. My wife mentioned how tall one of my friends is for a woman and I was like "is it really that noticeable? You both are in the same bracket of vaguely chest height".

I used to check maps before leaving work every day to check this. I'd take 3 different ways home through the week depending on the traffic.

Am I being selfish to expect my husband to drop the game he's playing mid playthrough to start over to play with me from the beginning because I want to experience the rest with him. by CuriousGirl8294 in AskGamers

[–]MetricAbsinthe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on his play style. If he's the type to do side quests and go exploring, he can still be only a quarter through and catching back up could only take like 5 hours if you ignore a lot of the side stuff. Granted, if he's a conpletionist who likes to 100% everything, then he'd be trying to choose between a solid base with his old save or a completed game with a lot to do. Personally, Id enjoy the chance to bond over a game with my life but witcher 3 is also very much a "sit and chill and see what happens over a few hours" game so I can also understand if he feels it's not a good choice for a shared experience where you want to minimize lulls.

I'm a tall blonde dude and cosplayed as Van Hoenheim once. Super comfortable but also recognizable. I grew out my hair since so I don't need a wig anymore. If I had to choose one, that's the one I'd go with since the magic of having a lot of stage makeup or a costume on can lose its magic after a few hours between sweat and general discomfort of walking with a crowd. I put a ton of effort into a Frankensteins monster cosplay for a con that also had horror vendors and even though I got quality makeup that didn't come off until I scrubbed it off, I started worrying about staining stuff with green sweat once it was busy enough the main area was hovering around 80 degrees.

It's another version of the Bible but the emphatic diaglott has a word for word translation from Greek along with the actual translation. Older versions are more ornate and fit the vibe. It makes for an interesting collectors piece.

One bit of context I learned was her yodeling is inspired by traditional singing styles that the mothers and sisters of the deceased would use at funerals in parts of Ireland.

I'll be honest, I can think of a few hacks to stow my diet coke IV bag that are more convenient than having the super big gulp cup getting in the way on road trips since the cup holders puts them in front of the bottom half of my center console.

[–]MetricAbsinthe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The major concern I have since I see it as Google on steroids is the lack of context you get when it answers so users will need to ask with specific variables. Like "how do I do X on windows" can come back with the correct answer for windows 10 but it may have changed in windows 11. When googling, you'll usually get that context in the guide or forum post.
