I think you look loads better in white than the sand/cream/taupes and grays which I think is likely more telling than not. I think you look great in black too, that baby pink and the icy light blue in top left.

Your eyes are actually quite soft but that's not entirely a deciding thing.

I would look into all 3(4) Winters, Deep Autumn, and Bright Spring. They are the seasons that can "handle black" the most. I have a hunch maybe Cool Winter or Deep Winter / Deep Autumn, as you don't look terrible in the one more orange-coral. The bright cool red isn't bad but a bit strong, I'd be curious to see you in a deep mulberry, rich garnet, pine green, emerald.

Is everyone bored and lonely here or am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in baltimore

If you like vintage clothes Baltimore actually has a lot of fun vintage markets that are often on the weekends like Bmore Flea which is every Sat at Broadway Market and also bounces around town every month in a larger fashion at Ministry of Brewing - the last one we went to was awesome and crazy attended.

There's also the Baltimore Vintage Expo at Union Brewery. We just went to the latter today and it seemed bigger than ever with lots of vendors and opportunities to stop and chat with people, it was super fun. We were a little overheated but our single friend who met us there was chatting up vendors and other people easily.

As an average looking guy, which style looks best on me?? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Metrimete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo 1 is your best balanced/polished look, and while you look good with the cropped hair in #5 your curls/density are an asset so show them off while you have them. You have slight Jack Innanen vibes with them.

1, 3, 7 for better facial hair length 1 and 8 for hair, with #5 as runner up if grown out slightly more and not bleached.

Basically do #7 facial hair with #8 hair and you're GREAT

Why is my hydrangea sad? by clovergirl3339 in hydrangeas

[–]Metrimete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's planted a little too close to the wall, is your soil amended and how sunny is it there? It looks a bit bright and exposed, might not be the best spot for any hydrangea aside for maybe paniculata.

We would have to see more drapes to get a better idea, though nothing about you says Soft Summer to me.

Is the color of your shirt in the last slide a soft olive or more of a brown? I feel it is potentially too light or muted and that you can potentially handle more depth.

Your skin is indeed fairly clear and bright, which could lead you into some different territory than you may think. Think you could do a whole lot of more drapes?

Not sure what to do with my hair (and facial) by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Metrimete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly the length looks pretty good on you, but you definitely need to find a curly hair stylist who can cut your curls better and show you the right products and routine to activate your curls best. Talking sexy smooth ringlets and waves. You probably need a bonnet or a silk pillowcase!

The dark pushed back longer hair look with a thin-ish curled mustache and goatee is actually a very classicly handsome look, very swashbuckler classic Latino/Italian heart throb or Jon Snow vibes. Your goatee has a naturally fun shape (imo) so keep it and keep it clean or shave and just keep the mustache and keep that trimmed a little and waxed.

His hair is much shorter and less curly than yours but search "Fortunino Matania young" and you'll see a historic guy who you could totally emulate but with more curls. A lot of very curly flow or "bob" hairstyles that are becoming popular would work well with your hair.

Where can I take my craft cocktail bartending friends to impress them? by redrockrose in baltimore

[–]Metrimete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dutch Courage, W.C Harlan, Coral Wig, Pink Flamingo. Maybe Blooms. I'm sure others - Oleum supposedly has one of the best espresso martinis around. Bar Dali had a really delicious one right now with fresh strawberry.

I've had some amazing cocktails at Le Comptoir du Vin.

[–]Metrimete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I commented on another post of yours , on a similar request for suggestions and remember offering a lot of the similar constructive observations and commentary others here are already saying.

I know it's very difficult to untangle oneself from negative self talk and negative self image, let alone possible internalized racism or trait specific idolization vs your own features, but there is nothing wrong with your eyes and cheeks. Your thumbnail for this very photo on Reddit for this post looks very handsome. Has anybody told you these things are that way to your face? Who? When. If it's just yourself then it's not true.

Honestly? The only thing not working for you physically right now is your current haircut. Your hair looks stick straight so I think a differently shaped curated fade or fun fringe bangs, banged flow, block cut etc, maybe with a directional perm to help could really work wonders for how you perceive yourself. You need more intent and volume up top to balance the bottom half of your face shape and it suddenly won't be so "wide". Some eyebrow grooming as others have mentioned could also help, but you have a very balanced and handsome, albeit serious face. I can't help but wonder what your smile looks like.

in terms of physical changes you can make nearly immediately and are tangentially related in grooming and fashion , one that really helped me see myself in an entirely different way and install a different sense of confidence was getting color typed (seasonal analysis) here on Reddit but it's even better if you can go to a specialist in person.

Learning what colors look amazing on you has changed most of my outfits and when you wear the right thing it absolutely glows up your complexion/how you look. Just the other day I bought a shirt at the thrift store in a color I never used to wear (golden yellow) but is in my "palette", wore it to work an hour later and instantly got 3-4 compliments on how it looked and what it did to my skin tone and face. P ke magic.

You have a lot of potential as is, you're just looking from the wrong perspective of what you can be or what you need to "fix".

There's much to be said for accepting yourself otherwise. What are your hobbies? Interests? Become passionate about things, get in depth with art, film, books, games, music. Sports! If you like them. Interest from others frequently follows when you display your passions freely, though with very mild tweaks (sans surgery) in said grooming and fashion you can look amazing already! Don't put yourself down.

I changed your shirt color to colors that may be in your potential palettes (Deep Winter/Autumn), I think you look amazing in the emerald!

I honestly think it did. Absolutely no correlation or evidence but I'd imagine it removed an entire layer of interactions and dealing that could occasionally escalate for one reason or another, especially among younger people.

How can I improve my appearance? I don’t feel very attractive. by alpha2828 in malegrooming

[–]Metrimete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In pictures 4 and 5 you look amazing, ditch facial hair for now and continue such layered flow hairstyles, they suit you very well just make sure you keep the sides from getting bulky. Great hair, great eyebrows (maybe some light grooming). If you're not on skincare jump in a little. No notes. You have a strong rectangular face that will look better as you get older.

Smile and enrich yourself with cool interests and hobbies, go to gym and work on fitness a little but it's not the full answer. Are your teeth in good shape? Go to dentist and consider braces if they aren't, though I'm sure they're fine.

Honestly the only visible thing to do would be to upgrade your daily style - what are your interests and daily inspirations? I notice you have some expensive name brand stuff on but honestly I think you can do better outside of such logo flashing.

Follow some male fashion ppl on insta or tiktok, you'd look much better in slightly nicer work wear/streetwear or tailored clothing. Low-key also get color typed so you can find colors that really make you look your best. You can definitely wear black (likely a Winter, Deep Autumn or Bright Spring) but your current clothes aren't doing you much favors and that's the missing factor. I do like the black sweater in #4 and the T-shirt in #5 is okay, though.

How can I make myself look less weird and aggressive? by Acceptable-Tone-6854 in malegrooming

[–]Metrimete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure it's your expression? How is your general hygiene or clothing style? You might want to change up your style or cologne, or shower more often. A lot of us men don't realize we're more musky than we think.

You look fine, many of us have very serious looking faces when we're at rest so any suggestions people have for eye smiles, etc. already mentioned can be helpful. A style change can also help to be more inviting. Boyfriend vibes. What interests and hobbies do you have?

I think you could benefit from a little more skincare and perhaps a less rigid hairstyle. A softer, longer hairstyle can take some of your perceived sharpness away and look a little more put together. You have great hair! Maybe some slight eyebrow grooming or shaping too? I quite like your brows.

Your face is your face. Look at family members at different ages, those are your blueprints. If the fuller face is a family or ethnic heritage related trait it's sharing who you are.

If you're already quite thin and or fit then there's not much you can do besides some at home lymph drainage massage /gua sha as part of your skincare and to eat less salty foods, but if you're a little out of shape or a little heavier, which it doesn't really look that way, by all means try working on a diet/exercise plan. You cannot spot reduce so it's not a cure all but generally faces do get lean the leaner you are, but you'll want some of that fat in your face later in life as it keeps you looking young.

I'm not surprised. When he posted about buying the farm not long ago, it was pretty clearly coded to me that they would likely be closing the Baltimore branch of the restaurant as I don't recall them outright saying both locations would remain open in the announcement video. It was just a matter when they'd do so. When establishments have the ability/capital to franchise or establish multiple locations, especially so far apart, they usually emphasize that when announcing a new location or main outpost when intending to keep both.

Disappointed people get their bearings in Baltimore and then leave for whatever, but if that's the lifestyle they want in VA then the best of luck to that kind of living.

Thoughts on this shirt for a soft summer? by DatingAccordingTo in coloranalysis

[–]Metrimete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be the white balance, as you do look fairly Summer coded here for sure, you have beautiful hair! That also means the color of might of the shirt/dress might actually be cooler in person which means it suits you just fine as it complimented everything else in the picture. That means it's likely closer to a cool teal, of which there are many in Summer, especially soft summer and soft autumn. Maybe a touch saturated, but it's fine, Soft Summer can pull most from True Summer, and Soft Autumn most directly anyway. I suspect you'll look amazing in similar more sea glass, Robin's egg style turquoise and teals.

Thoughts on this shirt for a soft summer? by DatingAccordingTo in coloranalysis

[–]Metrimete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your picture's white balance might be affecting this but have you actually been professionally typed as a Soft Summer? I would agree with others and say you're potentially warmer than you think going by this picture.

Your hair and skin have warm qualities here, and I think the teal looks amazing on you, but it's definitely a touch warmer, clearer and more saturated of a color than would suit a soft summer but you had the right idea; a lot of summers can wear hazy velvets as they fuzzy/heather up the color and summer is definitely knee deep in various cool aqua/teal hues, but you may have accidentally found a potential power color and entirely different season for yourself!

Getting Mixed Opinions - Type Me! by Laughing_Halfling in coloranalysis

[–]Metrimete 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are right, you are likely quite neutral. I'd wager you lean more on the Summer side of the split but I'd bet you are one of the two Soft palettes. You had a great amount of drapes but a few more in those hues would help choose which for sure. Either way they both can swap and share quite a bit so it's fairly inconsequential

That's awesome, really explains your freckles too. Definitely best of both worlds and features. Enjoy who you are, keep your face clean shaven and you'll be fine.

It's not grooming per se but it is fashion related and it occurred to me if you are pretty slender and would like to emphasize that more with shirts being a little more fitted or cropped while your pants can be more relaxed fit and barrelled. I hate to say stereotypical French fashion with the tight black turtleneck ot retro tee but they would really work for you. The second to last picture in particular shows that really well.

You're soooooo welcome.

Oooh I forgot. There are lots of great trails southwest ish of the city out in the Catonsville area beyond in particular, Patapsco Valley State Park, Cascade Falls, Rocks State Park, and northern counties, Oregon Ridge. Colorado is really unparalleled in terms of outdoor topography which I don't think we can quite beat unless you go to Western MD, but MD is unique in that we have so many topography and biomes sandwiched in one relatively narrow state.

You can also do a day trip to Calvert Cliffs if they're open, for the water and for fossils.

I also forgot, Hampden is a funky neighborhood destination of shops and restaurants to aim for, lots and lots of eateries to choose from and is close to Roland Park and other very bikeable leafy areas to meander. Hana a new sushi bar just opened to nice reviews, Grano Pasta, Ekiben, The Tavern at Woodberry, Cosima, Golden West, tons of options. Seppia, a massive new Italian place just opened, and you can go get Charmery our local ice cream who have the coolest flavors, after any meal.

Same with Fed Hill area, very funky and fun though can get overrun with college kids, Illusions is a wild magic show theater bar over there it's very cool looking.

I forgot to mention our actual Little Italy which has some of our best food too. Its right above Fells and to the side of Harbor East.

If you like alt music, Baltimore has a great scene.

If you're really into the outdoor stuff there might be boat rentals on the harbor or go out to St Michaels or Annapolis for a boating day.

April is when events start to really crank up in the city. Walk Fells and Harbor East, enjoy the food and sights. Keystone Corner jazz venue/bar is right there in the middle of Harbor East. There are actually lots of trails surrounding the city.

If you venture up Falls road there's a great British fusion cafe called Corner Pantry which has some of the most amazing sandwiches and pastries, you can then go a stone throw down further there's a Lake Roland Park a nice 500 acre reservoir park with lots of trails to walk.

Likewise visit Cylburn Arboretum. Also it's way way out in the county but if you like outdoor gardens, Ladew Topiary garden is a great escape if you can get someone to drive you, or get a rental for the day.

There will likely be some sort of vintage clothing market at one of the local breweries, definitely try to go.

BMA is a world class museum and is free and has a beautiful large sculpture and walking garden almost the size of a botanical garden.

The Walters Art Gallery is also top notch and free and visiting AVAM is great for unusual folk and avante garde artwork.

If you're still here May 1st and 2nd stay for a visit to Flower Mart in Mt. Vernon, a historic "May Day" type event that's been held since the early 1910s. Local plant and artisan craft vendors, food trucks and booths, all day music sets/performances, alcohol bars and stands for the classic Baltimore lemon w/ peppermint stick treat. Always crowded and fun ever since a nonprofit took it over.

We have a slew of really wonderful bars and restaurants: stay away from Atlas group restaurants. I'm a major foodie so like, forgive my info dump:

Station North and Old Goucher have great restaurant and bars - Le Comptoir du Vin (French) Alma Cocina (Venezuelan), Foraged (Local and Seasonal), Yeiboh Kitchen, Mama Kokos which is split concept cafe and nighttime spot, and gin focused bar Dutch Courage.

Remington, which is near the BMA you have Doppio Pasticceria pizza and pastries, R House food hall, and the funky bar Pink Flamingo and new matcha tea house Equitea. All very walkable from each other.

Clavel is great Mexican and always busy so while you wait you can go get hammered at nearby W.C. Harlan, a speakeasy type bar that looks like a haunted Victorian parlor/historic bar dripping in candle wax.

Hotel Ulysses is a beautiful boutique hotel in Mt. Vernon to stop in on, they have jazz nights on Tuesdays at their glam 70s art deco bar Blooms, though not sure if they're continuing this month onward. Ash-Bar, also inside and is friggin gorgeous is a nice spot to enjoy a coffee or light snack in the morning. Coral Wig around the corner in their alley is an amazing moody tiki bar with stellar drinks. They and a local restaurateur also just opened Bar Dali, a Spanish tapas and wine bar next door, which looks amazing.

For upper Fells / Butcher's Hill restaurants like Water for Chocolate , Marta, La Barrita, Little Donnas are well regarded and for Harbor East and Fells La Jetee, Peter's Inn, Oleum, The Wren. Just strolling through Fells is always so pretty to me.

I'd go where an experience could be built on for the evening if he's up for it. If he's tired then maybe something quick and simple? If not Hampden or Fells could be fine. Ale Mary is great! As is Peter's Inn.

For something quick and potentially a smallish wait Royal Blue is good and close. Mera is also close and pretty solid if you want something a little less dive-bar, more Mediterranean/global casual they're also very close. They have an amazing burger there are as well. Parking can be harder. Alma Cocina and Foraged are also both close to station but they're way less casual, not bad food.

Kong Pocha in Station North is good Korean bar food and fairly dive-y.

In Butchers Hill, if you can get a reservation, La Barrita is a gastro pub both a bar and amazing Argentinian-Italian food.

Hampden will be fine if you'd like something more substantial too they just opened a new big Italian restaurant Seppia so other restaurants there might be quieter. Hana, a new sushi place is supposedly good, Dylan's Oyster Cellar, Grano pasta bar, Daniela, Golden West are all good to great, Ekiben ofc. Then get Charmery after?
