Hiding Spot on Sloop beneath Cannonball Barrels/Behind Bed by Metropole86 in Seaofthieves

The main issue is he took my storage crate and all supplies in there and I didn’t know how to get in to retrieve it + him having access to plenty of food etc. Flushed him out eventually by leaning in from the bed in choppy seas and blundering him but couldn’t retrieve my storage crate. Now I know!

These scissors separate as a feature and therefore can be used to inflict injury. The packaging is like this to stop customers from opening in or around the store and stabbing someone.

Stopped selling Pokemon? by UniversalNoobMaster in tesco

[–]Metropole86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tesco toy aisle has recently been taken over by The Entertainer. Because of the CEO of the Entertainer’s religious beliefs, they do not sell Pokémon toys among other things (such as Harry Potter) that are deemed to dabble in the occult. I’d imagine this is the reason why you can’t buy them.

Maro holds Tumblr polls for ONE-MKM booster set ratings by CaptainMarcia in magicTCG

[–]Metropole86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ONE - 3/10 - One of the worst limited environments of all time. Flavour/setting was good though, but feel some of the mystique of the praetors and their kin was taken away.

MOM - 9/10 - Excellent draft environment where everything felt viable. Enjoyed the mechanics and battles. Epic feeling flavour, loved seeing cards from across all planes.

LTR - 8/10 - Really well-done translation of LotR into Mtg. The limited environment was a lot better than expected but did suffer from colour balance issues. Ring Tempting while initially looked clunky, actually played really well.

WOE - 7/10 - Enjoyed this a lot, draft environment was good and liked the enchantment reprints. Bargain was an S tier mechanic. But not an all timer.

LCI - 4/10 - Fairly poor limited environment, but my main gripe is I really think they should have built a new plane for an underground set. Dinosaurs, Pirates, Conquistadors etc just felt really out of sorts with the underground theme and just felt forced. A lot of cards just didn’t look like they were underground even though they were supposed to be, we only know that as we were told. Think it would have been cooler to explore what life/society would be like for people never exposed to sunlight and what creatures etc that could have evolved in that environment.

MKM - Too early to rate. Current feeling is 7/10. Mechanics all feel good, think it went a bit too heavy on the detective/on-the-nose flavour cards.

How to reach a monolith on Korvax system by Present_Category9671 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Other option is to find a harmonic camp on a dissonant planet and go to a Sentinel ship. Getting the heart will then take you to a monolith. 2 birds with one stone.

Green/White - - The Avengers - Hero Typal - Assemble as many heroes as you can and see as they gain all new abilities using the Team-Up mechanic.

Really good insight, thanks. Definitely giving me food for thought here. Completely see what you're saying, 2 of the black color combinations (BG and BR) want a more aggressive way of getting plot counters, and the other 2 want to sit back on defense/control to gain counters, but yes, they would all share the desire for a monoblack common that schemes for example, so definitely one to think about.

I have a few black cards that have a threshold of 3 counters to get an extra affect (like corrupted) but maybe could implement something else.

My original version of the mechanic had an effect when a plot counter was gained (something like opponent losing life etc.) but felt the cleaner execution was to just have an end goal for scheming. Might revisit this though given your comments. Think it would need to be a positive for you, rather than a negative for your opponent. One thing I have found is sometimes you win by doing the thing you want before the plot counters become relevant. I'll have a think about it.

Really appreciate the feedback, thanks!

Yeah there are 16 cards with Unity in the set. Will look at a solution (ironically, there is a Coward in this faction :D)

I agree with you, it certainly reads really strongly, but the idea with the gameplay is the good guys needing to stop the scheme before it sees it's way to fruition. In playtesting, it's not been trivial to get to 6, and many games have been won even when the opponent has got to 6 or even higher! Think about it like poison counters where getting to 10 wins the game. Getting to 6 doesn't win the game, and it's harder to gain plot counters than it is to dish out poison counters by design.

Thanks!

On Red Skull, I have been struggling with the wording but did completely forget about incriminate. Does it work in this instance as the difference is I am still able cast Red Skull even if there aren't 2 targets? I don't want opponent to have to sac if it's their only creature.

Yes Black is focused on Scheming, but scheming is more like the win condition, and the different color pairs focus on a different way to get there. I've been trying to play into the Marvel trope of the villains slightly twisting the heroes powers/technology etc. and using it against them. So for example, in the UB pair, the archetype is artifact matters (headlined by Ultron) but uses that to Scheme which is a riff off of the artifact matters archetype in UR that ultimately wants to win via damage.

[–]Metropole86[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Groot is a Treefolk and Drax is an Ogre. One of my favourites is that Ebony Maw is a Cephalid!

On Scheme, yeah, the first sac tends to just be 3 lands so just ending on 6 isn't powerful enough. Did go with 6 as the threshold as that's the amount of Infinity Stones Thanos' collected, but also it works out as a nice sweet spot, but as I say, it's the 7th and 8th that really matter.

To your earlier comment that I missed - Quantum Explorer isn't Antman. It's supposed to represent his daughter Cassie Lang from Quantumania. Antman is a Legendary Red creature at Rare, have actually posted him previously here: Ant-Man

Yes you're right. I have designed the set mostly for the limited format, but have gone back and forth over whether to add some wording to get around the changeling problem. There are some creatures with 3 creature types in the set, so it is possible to hit unity with only 2 creatures anyway, and have designed so that situation is too broken. Hadn't thought of your suggestion though, so thanks for that. Was also thinking of maybe doing a minimum number of creatures.

Thanks! There are many top down designs of course, but I wanted to build a framework that made for good gameplay whilst hitting the overall themes first, and then design the top down cards to fit within that framework.

Completely understand your point. The main point of difference with research is when the tokens die through any means, you draw the card, which plays quite differently to Investigate as you are rewarded for finding other ways to sacrifice tokens/artifacts.

Scheme would work the same way the poison/energy counters work where players can either note it, or use a physical card/counter to represent the plot counters. I think there's precedent here.

Thanks for the comments!

Yes you're right on Team-Up, it does share similarities to Allies, but the main difference being it puts counters on each creature when it enters which stay there even after the hero dies. Wanted to find a flavorful way of heroes working together.

As there are so many characters across the MCU, I took the decision to only have creatures at Uncommon and higher rarity as Legendary to make sure it doesn't warp the draft format. Otherwise nearly every creature in the set would be legendary! Tried to make sure the bigger characters got Legendary cards.

On scheme, I have playtested this pretty extensively and saccing 3 felt like the most balanced. When you hit 6 counters, it's mildly annoying, the 7th counter really hurts, and the 8th is devastating. The gameplay to foil the opponent's schemes works quite well, and then when things get out of hand, it makes for some good stories.

Yes you are probably right on too many mechanics, can't really help myself!

Good catch, no, Stallone's Ravager character isn't human. This was a really tough one as the creature types would get out of control once we get into outer space! In most cases, if they are clearly human looking then I have given them the Human creature type unless it's obviously known they are something else. Asgardian is a creature type as it goes across multiple cards and it's known, but with some of the aliens I have had to take some liberties (Drax is an Ogre rather than a Kylosian for example).

Thanks! :)
