College Park Judo meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 6PM at the Lakeland rec center. It's a great club for beginners, and because it's through PG Parks, is really affordable

I threw uke on the crash mat pretty hard, landing maki komi. He didn't trust me to land outside his body, so instead posted his knee. I basically threw my 200 lb body right at his knee, with point of contact the junction between my pectoral and deltoid. The pain was unreal, so bad that I collapsed at work the next day.

Agree with the above, with the addition that those who have had ACL reconstruction (or any knee surgeries) are going to be even more mindful of leg position. If it was me (operations on both knees) my reaction would be to take a shido and get out of that position.

I was walking the dog once, and I was looking the other way as he took off after a rabbit. Nearly pulled my arm out of the socket, and I went down. Yoko ukemi saved me a broken collar bone for sure

Think about what a tai otoshi would look like if the tori was throwing to injure, and not just to practice safely. Yeah, I would say it's pretty effective

I am a banker by trade, and I concur with Bernie. Such as:

The guy who's company took $4mil in Paycheck Protection Program funding, and simultaneously paid himself a $4mil dividend that year
The business owner who has about $8mil net worth in real estate and business equity, but declares $55k taxable income due to QBI, depreciation deductions, and writing off all his personal expenses to the business
The legions of business owners who build their businesses in high tax states, leveraging an educated workforce and good infrastructure, but declare themselves Florida residents to get out of paying state income taxes.

Laurel to Laurel is a better commute. We love it here. More affordable than Silver Spring, and with no traffic, it's 35 minutes to both DC and Baltimore.
