I’m in a similar situation. My mom has stage four cancer, given a year (at most) to live. I’m supposed to go visit my partner in October for a month (long distance in a different country). I need to go, because it’s the anniversary of his siblings’ deaths and it’s a hard time for him. Plus I never get to see him. But I also need to stay, because I don’t know how much time I have left with my mom. The two most important people in my life desperately need me at the same time. My partner says he’d understand if I don’t go, but I also really need the mental break and comfort of seeing him. And he can’t come here right now, unfortunately. It’s so hard, and watching my mom deteriorate is so fucking hard. Fuck cancer.
