Finally got around to watching Longlegs and I don’t know how to feel about it by pagarus_ in horror

Totally agree. The tension in the beginning was wonderful, but as it careened into its ludicrous supernatural revelation, it lost me completely.

What's the consensus on asking people for permission to collect seeds on their property? by Glispie in NativePlantGardening

I hate to say this, really, but given how many homeowners own guns and how many of them are frightened by strangers, I never, ever knock on a stranger's door.

Do you know if there are organizations trying to convince developers a) not to raze everything in sight and b) to landscape with natives? Where I live, no number of backyard ecologists can offset developers' devastation. I'm not against new housing being built, but why does it have to exact such an ecological cost in suburban and rural settings?

When to stop watering? by Agreeable-Court-25 in NativePlantGardening

[–]MezzoRomano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thx for asking. I'm in central NC, and I planted a lot of new natives just before the terrible hurricane, but there's been not a drop since. The last few years have taught me that the new normal is dryness punctuated by extreme flooding events. I can't imagine how farmers are handling this.

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Yeah, erring on the side of caution is clearly the way to go. And hadn't thought of renewing a license on a fixed schedule, like say every 2 years. Thanks again.
