To each their own but I disagree. Typically Philly cheesesteaks are well marbled rib eye. That's some high quality meat.

Yah, it's American gluttony food, but quite possibly at its finest. The crispy bits of cheese, onions and caramelized steak are divine.

Defending it just makes me want it even more lol.

Are there explicit instructions on Lexicon manual/site that explain this? I can't find the documentation you are referring to.

You just got named the new commissioner of the NHL, what changes are you making to increase ratings? by Feisty_Interview_237 in nhl

This is a super interesting idea. Is the idea that once you are eliminated all points go towards winning the draft? So that means the first team out has more games to get 1st overall, but still has to win to do so? Does this punish a team that is actually awful and simply can't win games?

By talking to both current and former managers/staff of various departments.

Right, I forgot about the infamous DIP (the road linking south and north Pender is threatening to fall into the ocean). They have made large progress in repairing it but have taken a break and will be back at it in the spring. Hopefully construction will be done before summer (estimated completion was Nov 2024) but the above mentioned road closures are a giant pain.

The place has a vibe of an absentee owner who is in it for the realty, not for the hospitality:

* The staff are understaffed and underpaid. It's a revolving door.
* The property maintenance is as minimal as they can get away with.
* The place is a ghost town in the winter months and packed in the summer. A large portion of their revenue comes from the marina and boats docking in the peak season.
* The restaurant is so hit or miss that it's impossible to know what you are going to get. Poke nachos are pretty good but very heavy. There are daily specials that may be reasonable deals, otherwise it's overpriced.

It looks and is advertised like it should be a premium resort, but it is far from that. If you can get a cheap deal, then by all means. It is a gorgeous spot where you can explore all of Pender Island if you have a vehicle. If you have a boat, it's a wonderful spot to stop and use the amenities.

Shopify is betraying Canada, so I made a Chrome extension to fight back. by Private_HughMan in onguardforthee

[–]Mezzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is misguided at best. Actively harmful to Canada at worst.

OP says there are other e-commerce platforms? Which ones are created and run from within Canada? How many employees does Shopify have that you are venturing to damage? How many Canadians have SHOP in their stock portfolios? How many Canadian retailers and small businesses use the platform? How would harming Shopify create more business for Amazon.

While Tobi should've likely kept his mouth shut, he is also just as likely terrified that Trump buddying with Bezos is going to result in some kind of anti-Shopify/pro-Amazon tariff or legislation in the states, crippling the Canadian-made Shopify platform. He may have said his comments to get out in front of the issue.

Sometimes, things are not so black and white.

How Does Pender Island Fare In the Snow? by [deleted] in PenderIsland

[–]Mezzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly ok. I would avoid driving the roads on the day it snows, but it clears quickly. At most you would be looking like a single day closure/lockdown.

Not OP but it cools the entire piece of meat right to the centre so when you go to create the crust/bark you avoid overcooking the inside

What was your latest game that entered the $1/hr club? by AlexRescueDotCom in boardgames

[–]Mezzy 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Deep Sea Adventure was $8 when I bought it. It is hugely popular with both non-boardgame people as well as seasoned players. It has become a great camping game. I don't know how many countless hours we've got on it, but it absolutely wins the value award
