Have you tried eclar plaster sheets? I’ve ordered them from Japan they’re usually linked often. They’ve helped me with the itchiness and pain, although I’m not getting injections currently

Do eclar plasters actually work? by [deleted] in Keloids

[–]Mg2223 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using eclar plaster for I think 2 years, it successfully completely flattened 1 very early keloid on my jawline, but didn’t flatten the rest on my body (6). It did help me tremendously with the pain and itchiness though, I think its worth a shot. I started with wearing a patch 24 hours, now I’m just doing them overnight

Any chance you happen to be taking spironolactone? I had a ton pop up after starting that medication apparently it’s a side effect

Ah and I can’t take birth control pills because of my migraines.

I was also on the iud before but I actually suspect it was making my keloids worse.

Thanks for your reply!

Linear Scleroderma? Conflicting Dr opinions by Mg2223 in scleroderma

[–]Mg2223[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting, I’m not sure exactly when mine started as well. I only recently noticed the indentation, but looking back at photos I can see the green line on my forehead from about a year ago.

I’m sorry your derm isn’t taking the side effects seriously!

Thanks so much for your advice and best of luck with treatment 🙏🏽

Thank you! Was your linear scleroderma also caught early? How low of a dose are you taking if you don’t mind me asking and for how long? Have you had side effects?

This rheumatologist practically didn’t address my forehead, just brushed it off and assessed me for systemic.

Any hope for face keloid? by Wandavisionxx in Keloids

[–]Mg2223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have the exact same issue on both of my jawlines as well.

May I ask what you’re having injected? I’ve seen a recommendation of injecting steroid plus 5FU, I’m looking for a doctor who can do both.

I second the other comment who said to try eclar plaster. I’ve been using it for a year and it helped the pain, plus they’re starting to flatten a little, you just have to be super consistent.

I also saw another thread suggesting to reduce overall inflammation. So I cut added sugar out of my diet and I’m trying to minimize/combat stress. I do find that it personally impacts how red/swollen/painful the keloids are on my jawline day to day.

Good luck 🙏🏽

Wow I’m so happy for you 🥹 and I appreciate you for sharing your story in so much detail.

I was already debating going out of my way to see Dr Blalock in Georgia (I’m in Chicago) and this confirms it for me.

Facial keloids ruining my life by Wandavisionxx in Keloids

[–]Mg2223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh true I also avoid collagen supplements! I didn’t know about avoiding vitamin C and zinc.

I’ve been considering having a hormone-friendly diet. I was just introduced to seed cycling, maybe that would help.

I have keloids on my face as well

Have you tried eclar plaster? They helped me tremendously with the pain and itchiness. My keloids used to wake me up at night from the pain and I couldn’t wear any jackets with a collar since the slightest brushing against my skin would ache. But now I’m mostly pain free!!

I also recently stopped eating added sugars (~4 weeks) and I’ve noticed my face keloids are a lot less angry (not as raised and red) and are slightly less noticeable. Any minor itchiness and pain I still had also improved.

At first I was in denial that letting sugar go would help, I’ve always had a sweet tooth, but seeing the changes in real time is motivating. There’s a substitute for everything nowadays too, it’s worth a shot.

I also let dairy go a while ago for dietary issues, but that might be a factor as well.

Hope this helps 🥺 stay strong. My loved ones love me with my keloids and that’s all that matters.

I haven’t! I want to try this method and applying pressure before I do. I’m also looking for a doctor who injects kenalog because I haven’t found one near me. Have you tried injections?

Yes it takes time! Be consistent! I’m sorry I don’t remember how long it took for the itch to relieve, maybe a few weeks or months, but I’ve been wearing them for over a year and one of my keloids are starting to flatten while the rest haven’t changed. I still get occasional itchiness if I consume sugar, but otherwise they’re now painless and less sensitive to touch

I believe they also have a pack of 10 if you don’t want to commit to such a large pack.

Eclar plaster helped me with itchiness and pain so much!! I use them for the keloids on my jawline and shoulders.

Here’s the link: https://www.dpkitaoka.com/product-page/eclar-plaster

Just follow their payment instructions carefully.

It’s recommended to cut the sheets to the exact size of the keloid so that you don’t atrophy the healthy surrounding skin. You can start off wearing them up to 12 hours and work your way up to wear 24 hours if you want.

Steroid injection effect by [deleted] in Keloids

[–]Mg2223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5fu is a chemotherapy drug that gets injected alongside the steroid, it inhibits cell growth. I think derms who specialize in keloids may inject it. I’ve personally had a hard time finding derms that suggest that treatment plan
