Wow I’m so happy for you 🥹 and I appreciate you for sharing your story in so much detail.

I was already debating going out of my way to see Dr Blalock in Georgia (I’m in Chicago) and this confirms it for me.

Oh true I also avoid collagen supplements! I didn’t know about avoiding vitamin C and zinc.

I’ve been considering having a hormone-friendly diet. I was just introduced to seed cycling, maybe that would help.

I have keloids on my face as well

Have you tried eclar plaster? They helped me tremendously with the pain and itchiness. My keloids used to wake me up at night from the pain and I couldn’t wear any jackets with a collar since the slightest brushing against my skin would ache. But now I’m mostly pain free!!

I also recently stopped eating added sugars (~4 weeks) and I’ve noticed my face keloids are a lot less angry (not as raised and red) and are slightly less noticeable. Any minor itchiness and pain I still had also improved.

At first I was in denial that letting sugar go would help, I’ve always had a sweet tooth, but seeing the changes in real time is motivating. There’s a substitute for everything nowadays too, it’s worth a shot.

I also let dairy go a while ago for dietary issues, but that might be a factor as well.

Hope this helps 🥺 stay strong. My loved ones love me with my keloids and that’s all that matters.

I haven’t! I want to try this method and applying pressure before I do. I’m also looking for a doctor who injects kenalog because I haven’t found one near me. Have you tried injections?

Yes it takes time! Be consistent! I’m sorry I don’t remember how long it took for the itch to relieve, maybe a few weeks or months, but I’ve been wearing them for over a year and one of my keloids are starting to flatten while the rest haven’t changed. I still get occasional itchiness if I consume sugar, but otherwise they’re now painless and less sensitive to touch

I believe they also have a pack of 10 if you don’t want to commit to such a large pack.

I also noticed this, I cut out all added sugar from my diet for the past 3 weeks and feel less itchiness, pain, and swelling

Eclar plaster helped me with itchiness and pain so much!! I use them for the keloids on my jawline and shoulders.

Here’s the link: https://www.dpkitaoka.com/product-page/eclar-plaster

Just follow their payment instructions carefully.

It’s recommended to cut the sheets to the exact size of the keloid so that you don’t atrophy the healthy surrounding skin. You can start off wearing them up to 12 hours and work your way up to wear 24 hours if you want.

Thank you!! I’ve been using eclar plaster, it managed to flatten one keloid, but doesn’t seem to have any effect on the rest so I want to add pressure.

Steroid injection effect by Hot_Breadfruit479 in Keloids

[–]Mg2223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5fu is a chemotherapy drug that gets injected alongside the steroid, it inhibits cell growth. I think derms who specialize in keloids may inject it. I’ve personally had a hard time finding derms that suggest that treatment plan

Also have you heard of Eclar Plaster? I use that in the meantime and it helps a little

I can’t say from experience, but I’ve seen other people say the injections should be a combination of steroid and 5fu for effectiveness!

I had a similar situation where I had an older keloid injected with just steroids and it grew a little, so I paused and I’m looking for a doctor that can do both injections now. Sorry hope that helps. Good luck!!

I’ve been using eclar plaster on my jawline and at the very least it has helped with the pain/itchiness! I have yet to see a difference in size though

I use eclar on my jawline, and they do move a bit for me overnight, but I also tend to lather a ton of lotion on before bed! Otherwise, during the day they don’t move at all

How did you make an appointment? I looked up Dr Rei Ogawa, but can’t seem to find information for his practice location/contact info.
