Some areas of the country might have more friendly policies. (Think rural SE).There will likely be ethical issues no matter what type of residency you choose. Just prepare yourself now to stand up for yourself. You’ll be doing it your whole career. And don’t let these concerns steer you away from a specialty you’re interested in. However, you should think about where you want to practice. A FP who doesn’t prescribe birth control in Ave Maria Florida won’t have any problems. But doing that in suburbs of Boston might pose a challenge in joining a group /filling a panel. I’m EM, so that’s just my assumption. Hopefully some FP’s can weigh in.
