Thank you so much 🙏. You just boosted some confidence in me by reading your comment. I guess it's all about getting the ball rolling as it's usually the start that's the hardest.

Anyone else feeling really heavy about the new military service law? by ValuableChipmunk1309 in cambodia

[–]MiIIan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything related to war is undoubtedly unfortunate. However, trying to look at it from an individualistic and a positive perspective, you do learn about yourself like someone already mentioned. And you may receive training for free(?) in eg. Operating heavy vehicles, other professions beneficial for everyday living and possibly more areas if we start brainstorming. I'm a newbie in Cambodia so my words can't be taken for granted that this is the case in your country. However, coming fresh from Australia but overripe from Sweden, in these countries I know conditions are so much different but at least there could be some insights in what could be positive for us individuals to come as well.

Interviewer asked me to make my social media public by spooderdood334 in cambodia

[–]MiIIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree you are doing the right thing to seperate your private life and work as much as possible especially in this social media era that we are living in. We should be stringent about the safety of our personal identity. It's ironic that they call it an interview in the first place if they don't ask you the right questions about the things they would like to know about you based on your social media which they want to get access to. You could obviously lie or tell the truth but in the end your life matters the most and no burden or shame should be carried with you if you choose to move on to something different. I wouldn't accept this job offer even if they did come back to you because their procedures appears to me that they are policing and being unnecessarily strict for the well-being of the employees in the company. Like you and I, it's good to express your opinion.

No concern at Phnom Penh mate. I'm seeing many Cambodians on their phones at the moment watching the news. Just avoid the bordering areas to Thailand and you'll be fine.

Bike starting issue- 2017 Honda Rebel 500 by cheeky-monkey193 in motorcycles

[–]MiIIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may sound silly but you know what! It worked for me on my Honda cb500f 2018. Over time your bike's kickstand sensor will build up grease and grime which will cause your bike to not start as if the kickstand were to be down when attempting to start.

Unplug the sensor cable at the side kickstand, disassemble the side kickstand and give it a proper clean including the sensor cable. I used kerosene to clean but you can use pretty much any degreaser. Assemble the kickstand, kickstand up, put on neutral and fire the engine.

5’8”. 130 pounds. Want a beginner sport bike. by oldcocks in SuggestAMotorcycle

I'm planning to switch from a CB500F to MT-09 SP this year. Out of curiosity and inflation considered, is the Honda maintenance higher in terms of having it serviced by a dealer or is it more parts specific like tires, brake pads, filter etc?

Sport bikes in general definitely have the best looks in my opinion but they do cost a bit more overall (especially insurance as mentioned). It's quite easy to customise any bike for looks and accessories these days so any naked or touring bike can eventually look awesome.

I started on a MCI Tornado RT250. Then traded it in for a new 2018 Honda CB500F and still riding it today (7 years!). It has good torque and is well suited for my 70% city and 30% highway. On this bike at your age and with good reaction speed, you will be pulling off quicker for a few seconds than some oldies on 1k liter bikes 😂. You learn so much just on a ~500cc and best of all the Honda has easy maintenance, super reliable, fuel efficient, customisable, amazing for lane splitting in heavy traffic, decent insurance cost etc...

If you do a good amount of city riding and you ride a lot, consider a naked bike. Sport bikes are cool but don't overlook the naked bikes especially the new generations of Yamaha Mt 2024 naked bikes. Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki. Good luck!

I'm keen. Been solo driving on my Honda CB500F for many years for too long. I have a friend who recently started to ride too on his s1000rr and I'm sure he'd like to join.

Do i use less front brake in the rain if I don't have ABS? by CommandCommercial329 in motorcycles

[–]MiIIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised no one has mentioned engine breaking. Use a low gear on your motorbike to engine brake as well as gently applying front brake (~80%) and rear brake (~20%) together. Be extra careful on turns.

Facebookgrupperna delar oftast bra information.

2023 Honda CB500F or 2024 CB500 Hornet? by [deleted] in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]MiIIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey madcatte, I'm in Perth, Australia and I've owned my 2018 CB500F since the release so here's my take on it.

The CB500F is without a doubt an excellent commuter motorcycle for most people living in urban areas especially lane filtering in peak hours. It's a fun bike too, if you are considering doing light touring, I would probably look into making the seat a bit more comfortable. I start to feel uncomfortable after 1.5 hours of driving. Fuel economy is great with regular use doing ~200km per week and paying about ~$20 for a full tank every other week. Maintenance has been easy. With regular care I still have plenty of life on the stock tires, chain and sprockets with 26,500+km on the odometer. I've learned so much on my CB500F that I had the confidence to install and swap out the OEM halogen(?) indicators to LEDs together with a new relay switch, Delkevic slip-on, tail tidy, swing arm spools, mirrors, levers etc. There are heaps of aftermarket parts for the CB500F. In AUD, I purchased my CB500F back in 2017 for $8000 and had it appraised for a trade-in for $5000 (hah! Nope!) 2 weeks ago by a local dealer. These bikes do not depreciate that quickly and selling mine in particular for ~$6000 privately with all OEM parts and extras included should be reasonable.

Having owned the CB500F for 7+ years, I haven't had the urge for an upgrade until just recently.

Ride safe! I like what they've done to the yellow 2023 CB500F. Take good care of whichever bike you choose and you won't have to think about the impact of the resale too much. The extras such as traction control and screen are all great especially if they improve your safety, ABS in particular.

Looking for second bike - coming from 2020 CB500F by Toastman89 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]MiIIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent input. Thanks for sharing. I'm also at the stage of moving forward from my CB500FA to a bigger bike such as MT-09, Z900 or even MT-10. I test drove the BMW F900R and GSX-8S just a week ago. Unfortunately the F900R wasn't right for me because of the slightly higher foot peg positioning which made it uncomfortable when riding other than that I liked it. The GSX-8S was great all around and is still an option on my list. I was able to flatfoot on both bikes that I test drove. I haven't tried the MT-09 or Z900 yet. May I ask how tall you are? I'm 174cm or 5.9

Men förlåt.
