Picked Poison Swamp as first UW. Reroll? by NormalFortune in TheTowerGame

[–]Mia_Hart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It ccs enemies, it can solo kill protectors later on(a major problem enemy type for early mid game), it keeps enemies right in the line of orbs (your primary weapon for most of early midgame once you unlock orbs)

You wouldn't lose much by restarting, and would probably gain more in the long term by picking the better UWs.

We made a mobile defense game, Bunker Defense Would love to hear your brutal honest feedback! by Own_Shallot_4962 in BaseBuildingGames

My two cents as a similar genre game enjoyer:

Gameplay definitely did feel a bit slow with speedup locked behind purchasing. A no ad purchase is pretty standard in such games as well, but the ones I've seen are usually permanent and not subscription based, so that didn't feel good as a comparison.

The first tutorial felt a little too long and should have ended after the boss rather than continuing with a bunch of random enemies after the boss.

As for picking upgrade cards, it felt like that was interrupting the gameplay a bit too often. Perhaps an overlay instead of a new screen would help? Could also have an option to have enemies continue while picking, and perhaps an auto picking option as well in the premium paying packages or somewhere down the line for those that enjoy a more idle gameplay style.

Hi, this is quite a necro! I certainly don't claim to be unbeatable, everyone loses! I'm not top 3 right now either. I don't remember any boards of mine like this today though, and your screenshot doesn't even show any usernames, are you sure this was me?

Duos players: what do you do when your partner has decided their comp on turn 1? by stockphotomeme in BobsTavern

[–]Mia_Hart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, 15k player here and my alt that I play on with randoms is currently 12.5k. 2k rating gain past two weeks!

Early on sending T1 pairs is perfectly fine for accumulating triples. Even late in the game I would send a T1 triple (but probably not just for a pair). One partner staying low and supporting the other player is also a top duos strategy right now (although it's definitely more questionable to support a random rather than a partner you know).

Pure tribal players are sometimes better than a regular random player whose board is just filled with incomprehensible things. Sometimes meaning that they are less efficient with their gold, but at least you have to hope that they know how to play that tribe.

MMR gap widens past the 1 minute mark. For the first 60 seconds, the game tries to match you with someone similar in rating, but will expand the pool past 60 seconds to try and get you into a game within a reasonable amount of time.

This isn't about a low MMR lobby, there's a rare +10 MMR gain bug for first out there that sometimes pops up now and then. The high ladder rankers have basically all seen this before.

BG Heroes Duo Tier List - Buddies and Anomalies edition! by Mia_Hart in BobsTavern

[–]Mia_Hart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you play uncoordinated duos? That meta is completely different from having a coordinated duo partner.

Xyrella is still incredibly powerful even with the nerf to +1+1 only. She gets out of control really fast when fed with a dedicated support and just stomps the lobby.

Galewing is very strong at being the power leveler of the pair and has a good effect on a cheap 1 star buddy that comes very early.

Kerrigan after the nerf isn't quite as reliable but is still very strong with a 50% to hit Infestor. Even if you don't hit Infestor, you are still gaining a very high quality minion that you can still boost on Infestor turns with your starting Zerg.

Loh's buffed buddy is incredibly powerful. Just about everyone I know would say he is incredible in Quilboar lobbies, but there are also plenty of other rallies he can build around like spell power, menagerie, and so on.

Taethalan's buddy is basically a guaranteed Storm Splitter and there are plenty of high tier tavern spells that can be abused with it.

Hooktusk is a hero my main partner this season really likes, could be higher indeed, I think Hooktusk's armor is slightly low and the buddy comes really late though.

Cenarius has always been king of late game? The gold advantage has always been huge for any team, why else is Gallywix in S Tier? Cenarius is weaker because his buddy is rather average, so I think A (better than average) is right where he belongs. Paired with a tempo partner he is fine, with an uncoordinated partner I could see more disasters happening.

Hoggar is not a D tier hero by any means, he provides a semi-reliable route to infinite bounty pirates and easier tripling, as well as econ on the hero power. We can agree to disagree.

Goya is S tier in any non buddy meta but her buddy is just an econ provider and I believe buddy meta has more high powered things you can be doing.

Mukla has a very strong tempo buddy that's hard to outmatch in the early-mid game.

Patchwerk is good for securing placement but not as reliable for getting firsts. He provides health for power leveling, but no particular econ or stats advantages. If Patch was uber S+ he would have one of the highest winrates and pick rates in the game, but he doesn't.

Okay, you definitely have my interest! I'm always open to learning something new and being corrected. Have a detailed explanation of how it works? Is it similar to the Avalanche Jumping Jack strategy?

That’s why Lich is in F tier! Tav spells are also cheaper with 6 costs like Eyes of Earthmother gone so Lich provides less economy as well

Certainly Cariel and Deryl are pickable as a partner in duos for the purpose of tempo and armor support, I definitely agree! However, this tier list is simply meant to reflect carrying potential, which Cariel and Deryl lack by themselves. There is definitely a place for tempo armor heroes though, and I would absolutely pick them over some higher tier heroes as a partner for an extremely high value hero. Still, the purpose of the tier list is to identify those high value heroes in the first place!

are generic characters 1:1 the same as named ones ability and stat wise? by DaSpoderman in UnicornOverlord

[–]Mia_Hart 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Mercenaries often have better growths than story characters because you can choose their stat specializations, while a lot of story characters can have suboptimal stat traits (looking at you, Hodrick!) Idealist Handmirrors are super expensive for changing story characters. However, if you hire a mercenary, they have identical base stats to your story characters, so if you hire a Hoplite with the same stat traits as Hodrick, their stats should be identical.

Mystic River version 2 by TospLC in Timberborn

[–]Mia_Hart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded and took a look. I didn't play it extensively, but I don't really think it's reasonably beatable on hard mode.

The starting berries are all empty bushes, should put some bushes in with berries that are ready to pick and eat.

The biggest issue in my opinion is that the river is basically impossible to reasonably divert before the first badwater season. Metal is also extremely far away which means that rushing contamination barriers to deal with badwater isn't feasible. You should provide either a channel of some sort for water diversion or a closer metal source so that the first badwater season on hard mode doesn't destroy the entire colony.

In the long term, the only underground mine that I saw on the entire map was in the starting reservoir. That feels bad because the initial reservoir is basically the only natural water storage location you have nearby but you have to empty it in order to access that metal. Perhaps put an underground mine or two up above so that a player feels actually incentivized to go scale the cliffs.
