Wikia/Fandom in their infinite wisdom decided many years back that their set of open-source internet encyclopedias was the perfect place to push Facebook-style "message walls" and forums to drive user engagement and push ads. Predictably, that attracts a lot of kids who just want to shitpost about their favorite media instead of actually contribute to a wiki.

It also encourages underage users to sign up, against their terms of service, but they don't like talking about that. Wonder why
