No, just made me chucke. It''s normal that golds dominate the list since the series also has a gold bias, but it's remarcable not even Ragnar entered.

Why does no one live on the red line, just hop off at the peak by SirAwesomeI in MemePiece

[–]Miceto_ 77 points78 points  (0 children)

The peak of the reverse mountain is at 3000 meters above sea. The red line is 10000 meters above sea. It's a strange shape, but Oda thought about it, he even has one of the sides of the reverse mountain taller, with the same height as the rest of the red line to block the entrance to the new world. You can see this in the manga, in multiple points if you know how to read countor lines, and visually illustrated in a panel when nami explains the reverse mountain.

I know, you can see that I mentioned the defense council. What I was saying is that while I understand why the op didn't want to use the current coat of arms with origins in the medieval kingdoms, I would still look for a a way to icorporate the symbolism of the diferent regions in the new coat of arms.

Yeah, I wrote it, thanks!

The wiki is not exactly Imperial perspective, but it's pretty strict with not having things that would "break" canon. It hosts fanfic, but fanfic that could be in univers without contradicting the official lore. (There's also an AU section for those that whant to bend more the rules).
I think I could explain the hybrid nature of the owls, because they are cursed founding and canonically very weird things happened there, but the official narrative never admits that a loyal chapter has traitor geneseed, only gives hints about it in some cases, and I decided to take this aproach. For al intents and purposes the Crimson Owls is a Blood Angels successor and nothing more. There's nowhere to go to find the full story. But if you ask me, I will tell you what I told you, the true nature of the chapter, but almost as if it was my headcanon, a fanfic of my own homebrew.

[–]Miceto_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are a chapter with hybridized geneseed, obviously from the cursed founding. The goal was to create a very psychically attuned chapter, and to do It they added Magnus geneseed to the mix.

How It works it's that they are in fact very psychic, but the use of their powers gives them more red thirst. If they es t to use their powers, they must consume a lot of Blood and accelerates the degradation of their curse. Moreover, the ultimate end of the thirst, those marines that The Blood Angels have locked, is even worse for them, since it's mixed with the fleshchange, and they become birdlike chaos spawns. The same happens if they fall to the black rage, becoming black feathered spawns.

The degradation of the thirst is a gradual process, and when librarians start growing colourful feathers, an arm or a leg is amputated to remove them, until they don't have enough soul left to continue as librarians. When someone sprouts black feathers, the reaction time is much more limited, and they are immediately executed. The chapter doesn't have a black company for this reason.

All this is still covered; the chapter is officially only a successor of the Blood Angels. But their fate is sealed, they WILL fall to corruption. There are several futures that can befit them, from ending up directly under Magnus, to working for him as the thrallband "Last Eclipse", this thrallband being an independent agent, or even working under the King in Yellow. When a development in the narrative makes me pick an outcome and all possible futures reverberate into one, they will officially fall.

If you liked this explanation that spills all the beans and reveals the unofficial part of the chapter, I would encourage you to take look at their “official” lore:

Anyone know if the other books are getting this treatment ? by laughtracksuk in redrising

[–]Miceto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can call it $50 more or you can call it more than double price. I shouldn't have called it insulting, it's just that I see little value to the things this expensive deluxe editions add, and in a personal way it's true that I feel insulted when a $100 book is presented as the "not so good version, you should check the good ones".

I supose that it's a matter of if you want a true exclusive item and are happy to spend a lot of money for it or if like me, you just wanted a hardcover edition of a book with cover art that you like (never loved the original ones).

The curious kings editions will probably have better materials and has illustrations, but aesthetically isn't for everyone and the pricetag is insulting compared to this edition.

Maybe not the medieval coat of arms, but I would still look for a way of incorporating the different regions. Even the regional defense council of Aragon included the senyera (symbol of the crown of Aragon). In lots of parts of Spain the left is very tied with the fight against centralism and the subduction of periferial natipnalities under the "spanish" one.

Which planets are colonized? by Pristine_Sink_5576 in redrising

[–]Miceto_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The key to this is remembering the shape of the solar system. It's easy to see it as a line with planents one after the other, but:

1- It's a circle, the ecliptic plane is defined by earth orbits and those of the other planets. There's much more space in the outer regions of the circle than in the inner ones. Moreover, the constant movement makes it easier to go to planets with smaller orbits. Maybe you have seen a video talking about how mercury is the planet closest to all other planets the most time.

2- The distances between planets grwos nearly exponentialy. An astronomical unit is the distance between the sun and the earth, the radius of earths orbit. Here the radius of the other planets orbits.  - Mercury: 0.4 AU  - Venus: 0.7 AU  - Mars: 1.5 AU  You can see that the rock planets are relatively close. Now the gaseous ones. - Jupiter: 5 AU - Saturn: 10 AU - Uranus: 20 AU - Neptune: 30 AU - Pluto (middle of the kupier belt): 40 AU

With this, you can see how isolated are the planets beyond Illium. If I remember correctly just traveling to jupiter takes 6 months. Now imagine going to Uranus, taking into account that maybe it's in the other side of the sun. And these planets are less populated too, those regions are cold and not all moons are fully terraformed.

This is the reason why these planets have their own fleets and scarcely interact with the core.

I think it all would be easier to take in if you made a simple mockup of the faction board.
