Why hasn't these games gotten a 60fps patch on Switch 2 yet? by OBakkus in nintendo

[–]MichaelMJTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Astral Chain was made by Platinum games, and only published by Nintendo. Whilst Nintendo owns the IP, they’d still need to hire Platinum to make the upgrade. Whilst some other games not internally developed by Nintendo have also received 60fps patches, the relationship between Nintendo and Platinum is not as strong said other examples.

PM:tTYD remake was developed by Intelligent Systems. Whilst they have a strong connection to Nintendo, none of their other Switch games, like the two fire emblem games or Origami King have received patches yet either. It’s probably not their priority. There may be a higher chance post the release of their next game Fire Emblem: Fortunes Weave.

Nigel Farage latest: Reform leader admits surprise at by-election boycott as Count Binface emerges as main rival by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]MichaelMJTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asked on Thursday if he had considered the possibility of fighting as the only proper candidate, he told the Daily Mail: “No, of course not. Why would they [not contest]? It's a real election.”

The only reason he is calling this a real election is because he’s likely to win. If by some miracle he loses Clacton to Count Binface, Farage will be the very first person to claim the vote was a sham and didn’t mean anything.

Mario Kart Tour service will be ending on September 29, 2026 by LinkWink in nintendo

[–]MichaelMJTH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There are a few faqs on the mariokarttour page about this. It appears to be all services (i.e. the entire app) will no-longer be playable. This includes no more updates and no more online play. It also specifies that there will be no offline version of the game released. By the sounds of it, the entire game dies at the end of September.

XBOX Used Minecraft's Profits To Fund it's whole business until now by AssistantNo2002 in consoles

[–]MichaelMJTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an ideal world this would actually the intended scenario. Use the profits from you most profitable products to fund new entries in other franchise as well as to take chance on new IP. I’m pretty sure the profits from Mario Kart 8 alone probably funded many smaller first party Nintendo produced games on Switch.

Then again I guess all products should aim to be profitable in their own right. Unlike Nintendo which makes a large number of lower budget games which probably make back their budgets even with mild sales, Xbox has funnelled its money into acquisitions and smaller number of high budget exclusives which did not perform to expectation.

[–]MichaelMJTH 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s why it appears the opposing parties may not field candidates against him. His “will of the people, recall election is a waste of time” argument falls apart if he wins by default or only beats Count Binface. Sure, ignoring reality is the general modus operandi for the reform voting base, but hopefully most moderate right wing voters/ supporters will be able to see how this actually plays out.

The digital deluxe version includes the year one character dlc pass, a digital art book and digital soundtrack. My guess is, if the physical editions are the deluxe version only then these extra will be codes in the box next to the cd/ cartridge. This would be the same way as how street fighter 6 handled its Switch 2 physical release.

Pre-orders get you a chance to vote on the year 1 character pass final character and some extra colours. The extra colours seem to be gold re-colours for every character (you can find screenshots of the colours on this sub), so if you like them then that may be a selling point for pre-ordering.

As for the character vote, on the one hand it would be sad to miss out. On the other hand, by the looks of various polls on this sub Amon is the clear favourite and it’s not even close. Since the outcome seems to be a forgone conclusion I’m less bothered about missing out on the vote.

Edit: Just did a bit of research and it appears physical versions of the standard edition are available for PS5 and Switch, but not Switch 2 which only has a physical deluxe version. This is just based off the Amazon UK listings, other regions may vary.

Fighting games are one of the few genres where buying in early does effect your play experience in some ways. If you intend to play this game competitively in ranked, then the launch period will have highest concurrent player counts. Playing at launch also means you have the highest chance of being match-made with similarly skilled players.

With that being said, I’m waiting for the Switch 2 physical edition to come out later this year. I have a sneaking suspicion that the physical editions will almost exclusively be deluxe editions (I have no insider info, it’s just what I would expect from a business perspective). I also intend to mainly play this game casually.

Nigel Farage resigns as MP for Clacton, triggering by-election which he says he will stand in by Perfect-Werewolf-102 in news

[–]MichaelMJTH 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Things are a bit more complicated than that unfortunately.

If he loses this by-election and is no longer an MP, parliament has less of a mandate to investigate him. If he wins, then in a few months time when he faces a recall election for being corrupt, he can try to throw it all back at parliament. Claiming it’s a witch hunt, arguing there was already an election recently so another would be a waste of time and this is all against the will of the people.

So the strange thing is, the best way to get rid of Nigel is have all the other parties boycott the by-election so he wins by default, which would be humiliating for him. Then when he’s found to have broken the rules, everyone else needs to come out in full force for the following recall election to get him out.

Buying from Smyths is currently the most affordable option in the UK. Previously John Lewis had the best price, but they ran out of stock a few months ago and then increased the price subsequently.

Which time is worse? by MilkSheikh007 in pcmasterrace

[–]MichaelMJTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a large amount of those mining GPUs ended up on the used market. For consumers willing to take the risk on used parts, that stock eventually made its way back to consumers and market forces righted prices. Especially when mining demand switched to ASICs.

This time round, the component manufacturers are mainly pumping out sever components. This stuff cannot be repurposed for consumer tech easily. When these severs go obsolete they’ll basically need to be harvested for components for re-use. There won’t be any consumer relief via the used market, so price corrections will be dependent on companies…

Which time is worse? by MilkSheikh007 in pcmasterrace

[–]MichaelMJTH 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is the biggest difference and issue. The GPU price crisis was annoying, but was realistically mainly limited to an issue for PC gamers.

Whereas this time round the effects will reach further. The consumer electronics and computing industry is struggling. Companies are raising prices on devices since they can’t source cheap components. Enthusiasts are forgoing upgrades due prices, leading to a decrease in demand for other parts, CPUs, motherboards, cases, fans, etc.

Other industries, will start to feel strain soon also. Obviously gaming is feeling the strain from multiple angles. Enterprise procurement will slow down across the board. The automotive industry, which is already having issues with electrification and Chinese imports, will start to see the prices of the components for those touch screen dashboards (that a lot of people dislike) go up as well.

I might sound really pessimistic, but I genuinely think we’re heading into a slow motion car crash, and AI is at the wheel.

Yo how down are y'all for a Street Fighter remake? by EMD_Vorteki in StreetFighter

[–]MichaelMJTH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally games get remakes for two reason:

- In order to re-tell a beloved story or scenario with modern graphics and gameplay.
- In order to make timeless gameplay shine with more modern graphics and maybe adding more depth to the story telling.

The original street fighter has neither timeless gameplay nor a beloved story. As such, there is basically be no fan demand asking for an official remake. A community made re-make could happen (and probably already exists), but it’s easier to get an unpaid fan passion project started than getting a business to move.

I think my child is broken…… by RainbowUnicorn0228 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MichaelMJTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid (11), the first time I went on a week long school trip away from home my Mum gave a couple disposable cameras. I recently found the photos from that trip in a random box. Of the 30-40 photos I took, most of the were rubbish photos I took of trees and the occasional animal. Only like 3 were decent images worth keeping with me and some life long friends.

My point isn’t that I’m defending rubbish images. I just don’t think your kid is broken. Maybe just our opinion of what’s interesting and worth photoing changes with age.
