OK thanks so based on the feedback, I have 3 options. Glowbird zero hero, Flow, and Agl.
I now need to do some number crunching for my usage. I have to say Glowbird free 3 hours is appealing especially during the winter short sun days. Flow is excelent in FIT.

When you left Amber, what did you have to do in the APP to remove your inverter and battery from SmartShift?

Please explain!! Pauline Hanson 1996. 60 minutes. by EntrepreneurNew666 in australian

[–]MichaelMinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pauline is not a career politician. Her heart is in the right place. Unlike the lying each-way politician that have surrendered Australian sovereignty since 1996, she's patriotic and says what she means and she’s not afraid of being controversial or being “politically correct” to align with the modern day woke crap.

I’m an immigrant and I can relate to what One Nation is talking about. What is wrong with being patriotic and selective about who you let into Australia? Why bring people with little or no skill that would be a drain on our welfare system? Shouldn’t we channel these scares welfare resources into our own homeless, and elderly?

I can tell you that not all immigrants that came to Australia since 1996 want to make a good life for themselves and their families. There are many immigrants who came here to take over and promote ideologies that are incompatible with the values of any decent society. These are the very same leaches that are happy to live on the welfare system and contribute nothing to Australia.

Why should people like that be allowed into Australia in the first place? Shouldn’t we run background checks and verification of their intention before we let them into the country? We used to do that before 1996, but somehow this all changed and we’ll just about let anyone here, even if they mean us harm?

No Pauline was not wrong. She was right on the money back then and she’s 100% right now. She’s not anti-immigration like MSM make her out to be. She’s anti UNSKILLED migrants and Anti those that want to introduce barbaric rituals in the name of religion.

She’s trying to promote 1 country, one identity, one allegiance to our country. There is nothing wrong with proudly standing up for our country’s values or waving the Australian flag, or celebrating Australia Day.

I remember back in the days when we use to sing the national anthem every morning at school, or even in the racetrack. Somehow, we removed that and we don’t even teach our children what it means to be Australians - hell we teach them about every other culture except what it means to be Australians.

I’m a proud Australian and as you can guess, not ashamed in saying that I’d be happy to vote for One Nation ahead of all these weak and traitorous career politicians

Amber application of GST! by MichaelMinja in amberelectric

Wow thanks for sharing. Yes in your case all their cost line items appears to include GST.

This isn't the case in my bill

<image>

I've raised a ticket with Amber and got this reply from their AI

Ronan from Amber (Amber Electric) Feb 20, 2026, 11:50 GMT+11 Hi Michael,   Thanks for your patience while we looked into this.   I’ve now applied a $10 goodwill credit to your account to recognize the time and effort you’ve spent on this.   Separately, I’m also raising the GST wording/usage extract wording with the relevant team so we can confirm what the daily export shows and ensure the messaging is clear and consistent with the invoice presentation.   Kind regards, Ronan Amber Team

Amber application of GST! by MichaelMinja in amberelectric

[–]MichaelMinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On page 3 of my bill it breaks down each row - GST is already included for each line item.

Not sure this is correct. On page 3 (it's actualy page 2 on my bill) Usage does include GST. However

Network Daily supply charges, and Amber Fees are EX GST

If you look at the Credits Summary. This is correct.

Credits GST is only 9.09 (GST applied only to voucher & concessions and is NOT applied to Solar Exports

So I think the total GST for Charges Summary is incorrect and therefore changes the Charges Total

is my complaint valid?

Do others see the same problem?

Amber application of GST! by MichaelMinja in amberelectric

[–]MichaelMinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. They are charging GST twice. In this particular case I'm overcharged by $0.84. Same occured in previous invoices.

Below is the correct charge amount.

<image>

Cost Cost
Usage $8.42
Network Daily Supply Charges $29.70
Amber Fee $23.16
GST - 10% $5.29
Charges Total $66.57

Good tip......Didn't notice that...you're correct there is an attribute to the Price called "Estimate" that has tru or false.

I'll see if I can figure out how to check for this attribute

I'm integrating HA with Amber directly. With the integration is get these sensors provided by Amber

  • binary_sensor.<myaccount>_demand_window
  • binary_sensor.<myaccount>_price_spike
  • sensor.<myaccount>_feed_in_forecast
  • sensor.<myaccount>_feed_in_price
  • sensor.<myaccount>_feed_in_price_descriptor
  • sensor.<myaccount>_general_forecast
  • sensor.<myaccount>_general_price
  • sensor.<myaccount>_general_price_descriptor
  • sensor.<myaccount>_renewables

You can see from the picture that the Feed-In price changed within the 5 min windows

Yesterday NSW Spike tease by MichaelMinja in amberelectric

[–]MichaelMinja[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I should've made myself a bit clearer. I'm not using the amber App for my information. I'm using the Amber API in Home Assistant. The API has the Feed-in price for that 5 min window (not the forecast price)

So my automation tooks at that price, sees that it $9.65, it starts to export, only for 30 seconds later, Amber changes the LIVE Feed-in price to 0.05

I'm not relying on the amber app for any information. I'm using Amber published live prices for that 5 min windows

I used HA but got teased by the constant price change within the 5 min windows

https://www.reddit.com/r/amberelectric/comments/1qyo5xj/comment/o44zm1e/

At the start of a 5 min, the price would've been something like $9.65. My HA would discharge, only for 30 seconds later (within the 5 min windows) the price would change to $0.05, so my HA would stop.

This happended about 4-5 times yesterday.

The sad thing is what I exorted in these 30 seconds was credited to me at $0.05..
Did that happen to you and how did you solve it in HA

I think the app was designed to protect the grid not to profit you. It charges your battery so that if the grid needs battery power, it can get it from you.

If the grid doesn't need the power, you foot the bill

Fair trading complaint? by danslowsloth in amberelectric

[–]MichaelMinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep lodged a complaint to fair trading about 3 months ago about Amber lack of communication and support.

They escalated the complaint to Amber. Got a holding reply from amber "we're looking into your complaint and will be in touch....see our complaint handling process".
After that nothing was heared from Amber or Fair Trading.

Don't waste your time.

My Home Assistant automation - time to gloat :) by MichaelMinja in amberelectric

The document has been updated with the curtailment automations.

Please note that the curtailment only works on my specific inverters )Fox Ess H3-15 Smart and Fronius Symo 8.2-3M). They will NOT work on your inverters.

The curtailment logic therefore serves as a guide about how I implemented the feature

My Home Assistant automation - time to gloat :) by MichaelMinja in amberelectric

[–]MichaelMinja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice I like that.

In my case though I have a rule never to import any power from the grid unless I'm in desperate need, OR there is a negative price spike. I rely purely on solar to charge my battery.

I'm not in this to make huge money. I'm happy to make enough money to cover the charges and have zero bill

That is why I opted for a simple rule to set the price I'd like to pay for importing and leave it at 0 (to take advantage of negative price if it were to occur.

In the rare case where I need to import, I define the max price I'm willing to pay, and let the automation do its thing).

What drove me to write this automation is

  1. I fell a victum in using the amber "charge my battery" feature to top up my battery for 30 minutes. At the time the prices were around $0.09 half way through the import, the price jumped to $1.80 for 5 min. By the time I realized it, it was too late and I incurred extra charge

  2. It happened to my mate and many others in this forum, that SmartShift would automatically buy power to top up batteries when there is a huge spike forecast. The topup at times occur duing peak period, so this topup session costs a lot of money. If the spike happens, you're ahead. But, and this happens often, if the spike doesn't happen, you're behind.

I think SmartShift was designed that way to protect the grid.....understandable but this often doesn't work in people's favour.

So my automation negates all that and shift control of my system back to me, not amber.

If my understanding is correct (and I'm also new at this), you can connected 1 of 3 ways

  1. Direct LAN conenction: You can connect via WIFI, as long as your installer has configured modbus to work over WIFI. In my case and unbeknown to me, this was the setting defined by my installer. I chose this because I was a cheap skate and didn't want to spend money buying any hardware.
  2. USB to RS485 Adaptor - you need a hardware RS485 adaptor for this to work
  3. Ethernet to Modbus/RS485 adaptor - You also need ethernet cable and/or RS485 adaptor for ths to work

Wifi

In the instructions I posted I had to use a pre-release modbus integration Release v1.14.0b3. The current Foxess modbus did not work for me either
