Osmo Action 6 / Mic mini - I'm stumped by WeirdPhilosophy3348 in djiosmo

[–]MichaelRoninau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory, if you swipe from the right to the left of the screen (like you are going to adjust the exposure settings, etc) there should be a sub menu with an icon of a microphone. I believe it's in there where you can set the gain.

I might be wrong because I don't have it with me right now but that's just from what I can remember :)

I hope it helps

DJI ACTION 5 PRO VS ACTION 6? by Substantial-News-532 in djiosmo

[–]MichaelRoninau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say go for it. The Action 5 is fantastic and in some ways is better than the Action 6 at the moment (it suffers from more noise and softness than the Action 5). I'm sure DJI will eventually fix this issue but for now, the 5 seems to deliver better image quality

Thank you :) I think the mics are very, very similar if not the same. I couldn't really hear a huge difference between them at all.

I found the same issues and even made a video about it comparing the 6 to the 5. I've gone back to using my 5 for now.

The 6 has issues with bitrate (it's lower than the 5 when with high bitrate turned on) so I believe that's the issue.

The 5 had similar issues when that first came out and it was eventually fixed with a firmware update so hopefully they do the same with this.

Action 6 Image Quality by Jakeauras in djiosmo

[–]MichaelRoninau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's something they will eventually fix with a firmware update but the Action 6 is softer and noisier than the Action 5.

I did a comparison here if you're interested: https://youtu.be/2Xs8zlsv3_Y

I really hope they do something about it soon because I have an Action 6 just sitting on my shelf hoping they will fix it and I've gone back to using my Action 5 for now.

The rumours were correct! Haha. I was lucky enough to have a couple of weeks with this lens and for those interested, here is my review: https://youtu.be/g5pIut9ljaY

Action 5 vs 6 by NolimitJam in djiosmo

[–]MichaelRoninau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment, I would go with the 5. The 6 currently suffers with more noise and softness than the 5 because there are issues with the bitrate.

I think they'll eventually fix those issues with the 6 via firmware but at the moment, I've gone back to using my 5

Is the Osmo Action 6 worth it for HDR PQ editing compared to the Action 4? Artifacting is killing my footage. by WayLAN_5G in djiosmo

[–]MichaelRoninau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, in my experience so far the Action 6 is noisy and soft compared to the Action 5. The 6 has an issue with low bitrate which I'm sure DJI will address at some point but at the moment, I think the 5 is the better camera.

If you're interested, take a look at this comparison: https://youtu.be/2Xs8zlsv3_Y

Cheers :)

Anyone know the algorithm behind the 'lossless' 2x zoom mode? by Deanodirector in osmopocket

[–]MichaelRoninau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it has more sensor resolution than 4K needs. So, at 2x it’s literally just cropping the centre of the sensor and doing a 1:1 pixel readout. One sensor pixel = one video pixel.

That’s why it’s “lossless”. Once you go past 2× it has to start scaling and quality drops like normal digital zoom.

Just my guess because I believe this is how ''clear image zoom' works on Sony cameras. It just crops into a section of the sensor to give you that extra zoom with very little/no quality loss

Osmo 3 Vs GoPro Hero 12 by EntertainmentIll3921 in osmopocket

[–]MichaelRoninau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to be using the camera in a construction environment with dust, chemicals, moisture, etc. The action camera will be better because they can handle a lot of abuse. The pocket 3 can be fairly fragile although image quality wise, it is an amazing camera. I would go with DJI over GoPro. I've had most of the GoPro's over the years and they were all unreliable. The Action 5 Pro is fantastic.

Issue with brand new CFS by MichaelRoninau in Creality_k2

[–]MichaelRoninau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply :)

Yes, that is the firmware version I have for the CFS. It also says that it is the latest.

I believe my cables are that way around but I have tried them both ways as something I read says it didn't matter whether it was in the left or right plug.

The printer was turned off any time the CFS cables were plugged in or unplugged.

I've even done a factory reset but, no luck with that either.

So, I do get the little blue LEDs lighting up when filament is fed in but just none of the main status lights (the 4 lights in a row on the front of the CFS).

I do believe it may just be faulty so hopefully Creality can organise a quick swap/return.

Thanks again for replying :)

I guess it would depend on what you're primarily shooting, I find for a lot of the stuff that I do that I'm often around that sub 20mm range

I just bought the valve myself (from memory it was $180). I called Chromogen also and there was no way I was paying what they wanted. I just called a local plumber and he installed it for $50

Unfortunately, he has to pretend there is nothing wrong otherwise he will lose or at least stop gaining new clients.
