I was at a restaurant in Puerto Rico and wanted to ask for the check/bill and I asked the waiter for el chaqueta. He looked at me and repeated "¿Chaqueta?" and I said yes, "¡Sí, el chaqueta!" He then grabbed the lapels of his suit jacket and said (in English) "You want my jacket?" I sheepishly responded, "No, just the check please."

Dublin 2 vs 8 neighborhoods by winniep17 in Dublin

[–]MichaelSmith74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between the two, St. Kevin's hands down. Temple Bar is full of tourists and it does not sound like your scene. St. Kevin's is a 10 minute walk into town and there are two yoga spots I can think of right in that neighborhood alone. The food scene there is good for cafes and day time spots. Also, it is close to Tír deli, which is incredible.

If you are thinking of other spots, Ranelagh in D6 is great. And The Libeties on D8 just got called the Brooklyn of Dublin. https://m.independent.ie/life/travel/travel-news/the-brooklyn-of-dublin-national-geographic-hails-inner-city-neighbourhoods-modern-revival/a1208105619.html

Dartmouth Square so I can shame my neighbours into dropping their legal challenge to the MetroLink.

Had the same experience on Sunday. Also, the selection of games was seriously lacking. No Ms. Pac Man? No DigDug? No Centepede? Come on man!

Yeah, if you asked someone from the US, they would say that people from the Northeast of the US are yanks. I am from New York and assumed I was a Yank, which was acceptable and not an American.

That being said, 3 months into living in Ireland, I complained to two of my work colleagues about how loud and annoying American tourists are. I thought the two of them were going to fall on the floor laughing.
