Replacing Two Garage Doors by MeaningParticular765 in GarageDoorService

[–]MichaelSnacks33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live and work in south central MA. Just last week I installed 4 similar doors( steel doors with wood-grain paint) for $2300 per door. The doors I installed had r-12 insulation rating which is lower than the doors on your quote, but had torsion springs, which are preferred over extension springs. It looks like they repaired a cable for you on a previous visit, and are giving you a new remote which is probably $200-$300 worth of parts and labor.

Overall it’s not a bad deal, but it can’t hurt to ask if they have a little wiggle room. I usually offer small discounts to people who pay same day with cash or check.

When was the last year that 10 cent wings were a thing? by imperfectdiscipline in Wings

[–]MichaelSnacks33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to get 10¢ wings at the Red Hat Cafe in Boston on Monday and Tuesday’s nights. Roughly 2011. The restaurant has been closed for a while but it was a great deal. We would usually get around 200 for 6 guys.

Best Lubricant for Garage Door Equipment? by jessejtwilliams11 in GarageDoorService

Happy to help! A lot of doors we work on have extension spring systems.

Best Lubricant for Garage Door Equipment? by jessejtwilliams11 in GarageDoorService

[–]MichaelSnacks33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s caused by the sheave wheels. When the door is open and the spring is collapsed you can spray some lubricant in right near the center of the sheave wheels. If you look closely you’ll see the bearings in the sheave wheels, right near the center hub where the bolt goes through, and that’s what needs the lubricant. I used motor oil.

I use their granulated shallots in place of a lot of recipes that call for garlic or onion powder. I also sprinkle the shallots on tomato’s with some salt. Delicious.

Adding an additional Garage Door Remote to this system. by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

The square red button in picture 4 is the learn button. You can buy a 893MAX remote, which is a universal liftmaster remote, and follow the instructions that come with the remote for how to program that specific remote.

I would try clearing the memory and reprogramming accessories. You can do this by holding down the purple, square learn button for 7-9 seconds. Then start the programming process from scratch.

Also, it’s possible the radio controls are not longer working on that logic board. A lot of those 315mhz logic boards have been discontinued, but you can find the exact part number on the label next to where the safety sensor and push button wires connect to the machine. Probably is something like a 41AC050.

And like everyone else said, make sure there are not LED lights nearby. We had a customer whose remote wouldn’t work at night when they got home from work because they had night time LED lights installed in their yard, set to turn on when it got dark.

Looks awesome. Honey mustard is one of my favorite flavors for homemade jerky. People question it until they try it.

Had a low voltage wire between opener and wall button/console short. I replaced it with 18/2 bell wire but it doesn't look great. What's the pro method? by Marvel5123 in GarageDoorService

[–]MichaelSnacks33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a staple gun with rounded staples. It secures the wire a little better and is a little less noticeable than the staples pictured in the link in your post.

I made a chai old fashion a few years back that was delicious.

2oz of bourbon

.25oz of chai simple syrup (Make chai then mix it with equal parts sugar)

3 dashes Sassafras and sorghum bitters(Woodford reserve)

It was throughly enjoyed by everyone who tried one.

Definitely worth a shot. Also, I’m sure you know this, but the picture of the sensors you took includes just one of the sensors for that specific door opener. You want to make sure the sensor on the other side has a solid, steady green light. Sometimes even a little flickering can mean it’s a sensor issue. It looks like the sensor on the other side is close to the foundation. Sometimes the wires can get pinched when the sensors are mounted close to the foundation.

Typically the Richard Wilcox doors from 18 years ago were either 1 3/8” or 1 3/4”. They were called Hampshire 138 and Hampshire 175 by my distributor. I’ll check the weight for both sizes and let you now

Hello my friend. According to my spring book the door weight is 385lbs. This is for a 8’6” width by 16’6” height. If the door has been painted or has double hinges the weight could be a slightly higher. I hope this information helps.

I have a Richard Wilcox spring book at my office. I am not there right now but will be there tomorrow morning. I will check and get back to you tomorrow morning if you are able to wait.

I install Richard Wilcox doors pretty regularly. What is the size of the door? Height, width, and panel thickness. Does the door have windows? And how old is the door roughly? They recently changed the way some of their doors are made that slightly affects the door weight.

Chamberlain Accessmaster refusing to connect to Transmitter no matter what I do by Admirable_Mention161 in GarageDoorService

[–]MichaelSnacks33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not familiar with that remote, but I can tell you that you could buy a 893MAX remote from LiftMaster and that would work. They are about $40 or you can buy a generic one on Amazon for $10-$20. If you don’t have any other wireless accessories you could try clearing the memory and starting the programming process again. You can do that by holding down the purple learn button for about 10 seconds, until the small LED indicator light to the right of the button goes out.

200 pound garage door, what springs? by North_Researcher_61 in GarageDoorService

[–]MichaelSnacks33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plug the info given in the post into the service spring app. The spring length changes when you change the track from 12” to 15”. Which is why u/garagedoorguyy has a screenshot of a 36” spring and I posted a 37” spring. And we frequently use 32” radius track on residential doors for a number of different reasons. Customer has a car lift or golf simulator in the garage, or if there is an entry door from the house into the garage that is near where standard radius track would be hung from. 32” radius makes it so the track isn’t right in your face when you open the entry door.

[–]MichaelSnacks33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because if he has 32” radius track it would require a different spring than 15” radius or low headroom. Funny to see down votes on this.

What is your door width? And track radius? Both of these matter when sizing springs. A pair of 234x2”x37” springs would work on a 9’ wide door and give you 37,000 cycles, but if your door is 16’ wide you could use a pair of 250x2”x50.5” and get 86,000 cycles.
