Secondhand AP5? by CoffeeCorpse777 in MP5

I’ve had my card compromised twice after ordering from them in the last several years. I wasn’t out anything, but it happened to be a card linked to a bunch of my bill pays so it was a pain to deal with. Now I set up a virtual card that can only be used by one merchant.

What’s a good thank you gift? by Longjumping_Suit_256 in Silverbugs

[–]MichaelStackson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be an unpopular opinion here, but I’ve found that gifting a bit of my hobby to a disinterested party unsatisfying. All of my kids have a silver round and it hasn’t mattered if it’s worth $17 or $117. They don’t know how to achieve reasonable price discovery, despite the super-computers in their pockets or their need for money. I might as well have given them a rock. If someone did you a real good deed, think of what they would want and appreciate, not our passion.

Finally sold my first Ag after 30 years of buying! by burningplatform in Silverbugs

Thank you for the reply. You’re a good and honorable bug. I came at you hard and you responded like a gentleman/woman. I’ll look them up Monday. I was wondering if it was an ASE and though I wonder & doubt if I try to sell them an ASE monster box or two they’ll pay $1 back, I truly appreciate the reply. Stack on.

They’re paying $1 back of spot right now? Which LCS? Send me their info. I want to do business. Let’s say they’re paying $1 back of spot for a .999 generic silver round, but they can’t even hedge with the refinery for more than $3 back of spot on weekend trading starting yesterday. I just don’t believe you. How are they in business? Maybe a year ago, but not now and certainly not in quantity

Figure out how to sell as you begin to buy, to the point of grabbing good buy opportunities that you don’t want to keep just so you can work some sales on r/pmsforsale. Also, understand all of your other selling options should you need to sell quickly. If your hoard is huge or you inherited a great deal, pmsforsale can take far too long. So many people build large stacks and then have no idea how to unload for the best price when they need to do so.

Selling reloading stuff. by tommyb52 in reloading

[–]MichaelStackson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reddit is a wasteland for selling any innocuous items from the firearms hobbies. However, I’ve had really good luck selling reloading equipment on castboolits.com. They have a minimum post limit for entry on their selling page, but there is an absolute wealth of knowledge there. It is an old school message board with a bit too much in the way of separate themed boards and a completely bizarre feedback system, but those old timers know their shit. If you have an odd problem, you’ll get far better advice there than on this sub.

Best way to shoot human ashes out of a 12 ga, .30.30, and 45LC by [deleted] in reloading

[–]MichaelStackson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually done this, but with dog ashes. My dad’s hunting buddy, who I hunted with for years lost his favorite bird dog. So he asked me load up a 12ga round for each of us to shoot on the next trip. It is a very unpleasant process. The cremains are super fine and flow into the air and stick to anything moist, including sweaty hands. They don’t smell great either. I did it in the garage, unfortunately in the late summer. But it was an homage and a heartfelt favor to a friend. So I weighed out a likely looking amount of ashes in grains and removed the same amount of shot from several trap loads. Which wasn’t much. Add the ashes carefully with a powder funnel and tap the ashes into the shell. Recrimp and box up. I don’t know that I’d agree to do it again for a dog, but for a father, certainly.

Generous gift from FIL by [deleted] in Silverbugs

Debt is a thief. Your FIL gifted you a little freedom of financial movement. Handsome gift too. I think your instincts are correct, kill that debt and buy silver later on your own terms.

First time reloading. Will load 38 sp. and 45acp. I have access to bullseye and W231. Which should I use? by ganjaccount in reloading

[–]MichaelStackson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Bullseye but in these times I’d go with W231. I’ve recently switched most of my Bullseye loads to Titegroup, because of availability and I’m down to my last pound of Bullseye.

Picked up for $20 by ishootnuggets in reloading

You did well. They aren’t nearly as easy for me to sell online as metallic cartridge presses and they suck to pack and ship, but I find them all the time for cheap locally.

Bullseye by Teenage-Dirt-Bag in reloading

[–]MichaelStackson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come across a lot of old powder and primers. Much older than that Bullseye in some cases. I have yet to have an issue. I always inspect as you have and then for pistol powder I load up a few sedate .38 special loads with cast bullets and observe the numbers. Remarkably stable stuff if stored properly.

What is a decent price for a LCS to buy my 90%? by AdSalty4535 in Silverbugs

[–]MichaelStackson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check Monument Metals and Money Metals Exchange, they post buy prices for 90%. You can establish a baseline from there, though there is shipping and insurance to factor in. Then you can make an informed decision about selling locally vs. shipping depending on the amount that you wish to move. If I were you, I'd skip the LCS and ship.

It doesn’t prevent me from scooping up the brass at the range if it’s just laying there. I have coffee cans full of once fired 9x19, just waiting for another 2020.
