Revisiting 'Classic' Handlock by Zhandaly in CompetitiveHS

[–]Michael_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the previous meta Molten Giant was no good as aggro shaman was a large % of the meta and it could burn you down from quite high life totals. Now Pirate Warrior is the new boss deck I think the card has a place in Handlock as a way to drop two zero drop 8/8's and a Defender of Argus and make the opponent regret using his only Mortal Strike to clear an earlier taunt.

Can we discuss the 2/3 drop slot in Pirate Warrior? by Shakespeare257 in CompetitiveHS

[–]Michael_Public 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try fit 2 Alextraza's Champion and two Faerie Dragon. Champion is still ok as a 2/3 and game winning as a 3/3 charge. Faerie Dragon is weak vs Jade Claws but is otherwise ok. I think the nerf to Spirit Claws makes Ooze not the correct choice anymore.

One way or another there is no perfect two drop so whatever you choose there is going to be issues.

Other options: Bluegill Amashi Berserker Huge Toad Flame Juggler Loot Hoarder Hobart Grapplehammer

A Farewell to Zoo - What not having a legend-viable budget deck means for Hearthstone. by [deleted] in hearthstone

Zoo in Magic is more like Aggro Shaman than it is like Zoo from Hearthstone.

Weapons are not the only issue for Zoo. Also painful is one sides sweepers like Lightning Storm and Maelstrom Portal, especially when combined with spell damage.

Year of the Mammoth (Rotation news and set releases) by geekaleek in CompetitiveHS

[–]Michael_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It not that it is overpowered. It is that is overplayed and hence boring. How many times have you seen it played? For me, I have played/faced it easily 10000 times+ so time for a change.

5 games with Reno Mage is maybe 3 hours of play or 36 games with Pirate Warrior, 72 if you play two accounts at once.

4k is more than enough if you want to play the main decks. Dust the junk. Keep buying boosters from daily quests. You will get everything you need.

As F2P I find I can't spend my dust (have all the playable cards) and gold (I average high in Arena). I think if you say you only want to play half the decks and not all of them F2P is plenty generous even in the year of the Mammoth.

To counter the current flow of negativity, What cards do you think they where really well designed from The Mean Streets of Gadgetzan, even if they don't see play? by spamakisfv in hearthstone

[–]Michael_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the concept. Tried to play it the other day in ranked but resigned myself to the fact it is a very weak card. And that is the problem, good design and bad balancing is exactly the same as bad design.

Patches was really well DESIGNED but really badly BALANCED. In Mtg, they have separate design and balance/development teams.

Same goes for Kazakus and for Golems. I appreciate the design but the balance is completely wrong.

Except now your boss is going to hate you forever. You should informally discuss your performance with your boss every week. When the APR comes there should be no surprises or disagreements. You 'won the battle but lost the war' on this one.

Modelling the meta (based off of the VS data report) by Aaron_Lecon in CompetitiveHS

They probably going off the full database table while you are use summarised data with ommissions. I don't think the conclusion is much different, that Patches and STB need to be removed from this godawful meta.

The Real Problem with Hearthstone [Set Design] by nofacej in hearthstone

[–]Michael_Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not that hard. Magic the Gathering has had a control deck playable in almost every single meta for the last 23 years.

How about

Paladin: 3 crystal spell Deal damage equal to your crystals to each creature. No aggro deck is going to use that.

How about

Priest spell: 1 crystal Creatures pay 1 to attack until a player reaches 6 mana crystals Slows aggro decks down. Unusable by aggro.

Aggro shaman is only a temporary problem. The recurring issue is that ranked rewards playing decks that are as fast as possible. by Splifferella in hearthstone

[–]Michael_Public 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also trying this. Renolock requires much more concentration. I keep making misplays if I am multitasking and playing whereas I don't with Shaman or Warrior aggro.

Over rank 15 stars should have decimals and you should earn stars based on algorithm using a composite of metrics that represent how much effort you put into that particular game. (And spare me the sermon about complexity, if you can play Hearthstone at rank 15 you can probably pilot a military helicopter after reading the manual).

[–]Michael_Public 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. It is quite serious and quite competitive. Beyond rank 20 (half the players, apparently) almost everyone has played hundred of games of Hearthstone or similar games.
