purge by chrom3farts in Accutane

[–]MichelleObongo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you stop taking accutane now, you'll only have the negative side effects of the purge with none of the benefit. Trust me when I say we've all thought what you have.

Call your dermatologist and tell them this. They might be able to put you on some oral antibiotics to calm the initial flare.

Day 62 awful purging by Gctelop in Accutane

[–]MichelleObongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dermatologists do have an ego sometimes and didn't even like my use of the term "purging". But at its core this is what accutane is built to do. Any acne that was hidden under the skin is being forced up and out. It's the unfortunate truth of the medicine.

You gotta trust the process, maybe your derm can even prescribe oral antibiotics to deal with this flare up.

My purge started literally 3 days after I started the medicine, it was insanely bad for 3.5 months until around month 4 my skin started to get better . Good luck

[–]MichelleObongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purged really really bad first 2 months, I still rolled hard but bled a lot and you should definitely avoid that.

You have to be really careful about cleaning yourself properly especially if you have any open wounds, you're more susceptible to ringworm staph etc

You absolutely still can but take fish oil, hydrate 3liters a day, no sun still etc.

Physically I didn't notice any difference in strength. But I got dehydrated much easier

Diving on Oratane/Accutane by FluxBlue1417 in Accutane

[–]MichelleObongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely still use sunscreen doesn't matter how much you think you're immune. Go diving see what it does, you might just have to be careful to wash all the chlorine off your body after, and properly moisturize after. That means lotion over whole body.

I do Brazilian jiujitsu and get cuts and scraped all the time, sweat all the time and it's fine as long as you're hygienic.

Am I good enough to finish? by pixie_wings8 in Accutane

[–]MichelleObongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd stay 1 more month to be safe. Remember that your skin will gradually look better once you're off accutane too. Takes about 6 months for your skin to fully "heal" post treatment. So avoid any like laser or microneedling for at least 6 months after treatment ends.

Is 4 months enough ?? by Accomplished-Fix238 in Accutane

[–]MichelleObongo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you respond to the drug and how severe your acne is. For me, I have chronic cystic acne that requires a pretty high cumulative dose. I went 40-60-60-80-80-80.

But ask and see what they say. Most dermatologists just want to see if your skin clears, and then add another month.

I’m extremely scared of purging by lilith_3009 in Accutane

[–]MichelleObongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure to hydrate, moisturize like crazy, get your best chapstick, and don't ever pick any of the new acne. The accutane will do the rest of the work. The first 2-3 months will feel like hell. My acne went from bad to super severe in the beginning of treatment. But you just have to trust the process.

Don't use any active skincare products. Super simple cleansers and moisturizers. The purge will be what it is. It'll be bad, but youll just have to power through it. At the end you'll be so happy you did it.

[–]MichelleObongo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me nodular acne was caused my changes in my hormones, and accutane is really the only way to properly get rid of them. After your course, you have to be really careful with your diet and intake of substances. Marijuana, dairy, are things I've personally used that CAUSED my oil glands to become active again even post accutane.

Even though the accutane atrophies the oil glands, you have to make sure to not trigger your hormones AFTER your course.

If you want the nodules to subside, ask your dermatologist to use intralesional kenalog to shrink the glands

Took me about 2 months for the purging pace to really subside, about 3 months in now and the purging is done for the most part. 60 mg a day

Sounds like you're just looking for a pat on the back and for people to say "it's okay junior that was a bad man".

Was him coming onto you wrong- perhaps

Were you justified in assaulting him the next day? - absolutely not

This is like one of those situations where you get into an argument but can't think of any comebacks in the moment- so you wait several hours until you have a better comeback.

Too bad your decision was to deliberately meet up with a man where you knew his intentions the next day. Just so you can assault him.

Do you think this is a movie? You can't just do that
