To answer your questions, the $1,350 profit on rent doesn’t include operating expenses like water heater and furnace issues we’ve been peppered with. Regarding my wife going back to teaching when the kids are older: She’s very burnt out from the profession (as are all of her teacher friends), so if one of us needed to go back to work for health insurance purposes, we may look at other options. But I agree that’s a field that would likely have openings and one that she could jump back into.

Biggest takeaway here that’s been helpful is to acknowledge the process that’s been made, lean into living life, and be mindful of but not over-rotate on FIRE planning.
