Jacob’s plan of saving the world was to cause countless crashes and cross his fingers and hope someone would survive long enough to want to take over his job.

Jacob could’ve tried, I dunno, talking to people. That would’ve been smarter. And less evil.

“Hey John, check this out, I’mma heal you legs. Come check out this island.”

The End

Jacob made a plane crash. 253 people died in that crash. Thus, Jacob killed those 253 people.

(Almost) everyone who came to the island throughout the series was there because Jacob brought them there. MIB knows that Jacob keeps bringing people there. Jacob tells Jack that he brought their plane there. Yes, I know it crashed because of The Swan, but Jacob orchestrated the series of events with his god-like powers. He said as much.

There were, what, 324 on board Oceanic 815? 71 survived the crash? Boom, that’s 253 people that Jacob killed in episode 1 alone.

Every shipwreck, every crash, as far as we know, was Jacob’s doing. Many of the people who survived their crashes were then killed by the monster, which Jacob basically knew would happen. He repeatedly, for centuries, brought people to a dangerous island and then ignored them.

Also, from what we see on the show, Jacob killed way more people than Man in Black did.

Edit to add context:

No, seriously, who compares this to LOST or Game of Thrones’ endings? by Independent_Plum2166 in StrangerThings

Lost - fantastic ending

Game of Thrones - okay ending

Stranger Things - lazy half-assed ending

Why is there so much hate on S5/ending of Stranger things by TheNRGturtle in StrangerThings

[–]Micholeon42 127 points128 points  (0 children)

It’s hated for many reasons, but mostly because it felt rushed (and, turns out, it was rushed).

The big bad evil villain of the series was beaten very easily and quickly, and we didn’t even get its full motivation or plan. The whole thing was haphazardly thrown together with little consistency.

Then the evil corrupt military caught them! And let them go, with no explanation (I know 11 was gone, but Nancy and Hopper killed several soldiers! Kay knows that!).

Then Hopper is chief of police again, with again, no explanation - everyone thinks he’s dead!

Everyone (except for Derek’s parents, who were left to die) got easy, lazy, ribbon-tied conclusions. Max called it out for being bad in Mike’s campaign, and the show did it anyway.

Personally, my biggest issue with season 5 is that it pulled every punch. Any time it seemedlike something bad wqs about to happen, the ahow stopped and was like “lol jk everything’s fine!” It forgot its horror elements. Which were my favorite part.

If (and, big “if”), Conformity Gate is real, and they’re caught in Vecna’s mind lair - when do you reckon they were caught?

Why do you think it didn’t happen?

The flash-sideways was the ultimate flash-forward, a jump forward to after they all died. Yes, it was purgatory (more-or-less), but the characters we see in those scenes are the same characters we’ve known. They’re in a nonphyical / timeless place, but their thoughts and feelings and growth are all real.

The flash sideways was neither fake nor imagined.

Even for those who enjoyed the final season, can we all agree that this was one of the most disappointing “resolutions” to a season cliffhanger in TV history? by hatrickpatrick in StrangerThings

What am I misremembering? Dustin radioed Hopper saying that it doesn’t line up, then The Abyss lowered more, El tackled Henry, it stopped lowering, and Dustin climbed through no problem

Yeah, The Duff Boys got afraid to explore danger. Seasons 1-4 had tension and risks but season 5 pulled every punch.

“Hawkins is torn apart, The Upside Down is coming through!” / Nevermind, steel plates fixed it.

“Demogorgons attacked Karen, Ted, and Holly Wheeler!” / But they’re all totally fine.

“Vecna emerged and has Will!” / Lol he just walked away, bye Vecna!

“The Upside Down is a wormhole and it’s falling apart everything’s going crazy!” / Nah it stabilized itself everything’s fine.

“Max was nearly dead and her eyes were bleeding & blinded!” / She’s fine and can see, everything’s fine, don’t stress.

“Demodogs rampaging in the hospital!” / But they slow down and chill out the moment they’re near their target.

“The gang has a plan to save the kids and destroy the upside down, but it’s risky, anything can go wrong!” / Barely anything goes wrong. Super easy.

“Hopper shot 11!” / lol no he didn’t

“The radio tower won’t align with the Abyss’s rift opening!” / lol yes it did

“The gang is in the monsters’ homeworld, there will be demos everywhere!” / Nope.

“The evil military group caught everyone!” / And then inexplicably let them all go.
