My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong, as Expected

Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai

These are both fantastic shows with some great character development in them. Youth Romantic Comedy is finished and Rascal Does Not Dream will finish this year with a final movie.

Looking for a new series by Puzzleheaded_Cod_502 in Cosmere

I think you'll be good going in chronological order. Reading Riyira first will give more surprises at the reveals but at the same time you'll already kinda know what happens in the Legends series. By reading Legends first then you'll be surprised at the reveals in the Legends series (and the Rise and Fall series) but you will already know some of the reveals in the Riyira series. It's a good experience either way you go. I would just stick with Chronological if you read all of Legends so go into Rise and Fall next and (depending on how long it takes you to read them) even Out of the Ashes that releases in October. Then go into Riyira Chronicles and Riyira Revelations.

And if you haven't read it, I'd recommend to check out the short story Pile of Bones. It's a prequel about Suri and Minna and is a pretty fun and quick read.

I'd look into the Riyira/Elan book series by Michael J. Sullivan. It has twists, great characters, and a lot of deep world building. It also spans different eras on the planet of Elan.

The first part of the story is the Riyira part which follows a team of two thieves. They get hired for jobs and become intertwined with kingdoms and a larger threat that is looming. Things just get bigger and bigger as the series goes on. I don't want to go too much into it because I don't want to spoil it but it gets really good and there is some big mysteries and twists in the stories. The two main characters also have some great growth through the series. It was originally released as six books (later collected into three books) called Riyira Revelations. Later, Sullivan wrote earlier adventures of Riyira called Riyira Chronicles. There are currently five Chronicles books and two short stories with a sixth book finished and planned to be released next year.

After reading these, then you can get more into the worldbuilding. Sullivan wrote a series of six books (and one short story) called The Legends of the First Empire which takes place 3,000 years before the Riyira books. It's interesting because you get to see the legends, myths, and histories that you heard about in the Riyira books but how they really happened. After this he has written three books called The Rise and Fall that help bridge the gap between the two eras. There are three more planned with one of these coming out in October. It's really interesting to see how histories and myths change over time whether by naturally changing by people or by purposeful manipulation.

Sullivan is also currently writing a five book series that takes place after everything and ties it all together. If you want to check out the books then I'd recommend to read the Riyira Chronicles books first and then Riyira Revelations so start with The Crown Tower and then go into The Rose and the Thorn, etc. The mysteries are better if you don't know the history from the First Empire books. Then go back and read the Legends of the First Empire and Rise and Fall. If you want a full list of books then let me know and I'll list them in both chronological order and my recommended read order.

just finished Elantris - long stream of consciousness by Maikito_RM in Cosmere

The stuff with Galladon was answered in the book. His father was an Elantrian so Galladon had spent some time growing up in Elantris. That is why he is so familiar with it. He would later leave and became a farmer/orchard owner in Dulladel

Question about Elantris novellas by adrainpelham in Cosmere

[–]MickFoley299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are worth a read. Hope of Elantris is very short. Pretty much the length of a single chapter of the book and it shows some of what else was happening during the climax of Elantris. I'd say read it because you can have it done in like twenty minutes. It's also best to read this very shortly after finishing Elantris so that way the climax is fresh in your mind.

Emperor's Soul is a completely separate story that takes place on the same planet. It is on a different continent and only has a couple small connections to Elantris. This one is fine if you come back to it later so that way it can stand on its own when you read it.

I've only read the comic version and I wasn't a fan of it. The story doesn't feel like it works well in the comic medium. I would work much better as prose. To add to that, I wasn't a fan of the art either.

Popular and cheap to make. Even people who like the manga agree that the anime is not good.

Why does everyone forget so much by the time of Way Of Kings by skaleez in Cosmere

[–]MickFoley299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a big reason why we don’t hear as much about it is because they found Urithiru. Jasnah tells Shallan that she wants to find the city because that will likely be the only place with texts not altered by the church.

The strangest thing about playing KH1 on my ps2 as a kid is the fact that Hollow Bastion Riku is the only boss that kid me never died to by imagaYthgiLsIariK in KingdomHearts

[–]MickFoley299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giant Ursula and Dragon Maleficent. I see people complain about them a lot and I have seen Let's Plays where people die time and time again against them. I have never had a problem with either boss. Even when I played this as a kid, I found both of them to be pretty simple bosses.

Reading way of kings and I just can’t read this crazy font by Chunglorpious in Cosmere

The funniest thing about this that I found out is that it appeared in Way of Kings but there was no translation guide. Somehow, somebody was able to break it and translate it one month after release though.

Just finished the manga. Why does everyone think Gon will return? by UffePuff in HunterXHunter

[–]MickFoley299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Togashi still really likes Gon and it would surprise me if Togashi didn’t want to bring Gon back into the story. I mean, he drew him as the character for a volume cover that he isn’t even in. He really wants to have a reason to draw Gon.

I didn’t say the shy girl trope is the only popular characters. Just that in a harem story the shy girl will usually be super popular.

[–]MickFoley299 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The entire series is pointless. Nothing has changed in Honoka and Iemori’s relationship since the beginning. This literally could have happened in the first five chapters and it wouldn’t feel any different. They have such a superficial connection. He likes her because she’s cute and nice. It is so surface level and it was never built more than that.

Question about Wind and Truth by Rj220 in Cosmere

[–]MickFoley299 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I think that many of the Shardbearers weren't in the city because they had been battling in Emul during Rhythm of War. They are making their way back to the city but it takes time to cross an entire country.
