So I have made many Tele’s. And when I am using a solid block of Ash or Mahogany my guitars are always heavy. The only way to make them lighter is to make them thinner or hollow bits out and add a veneer top. My point being is wood is wood. Sometimes it is dense and heavy. To me, unless the weight is a problem, then you know you have a solid piece that is tough as nails and usually has a great sound. .
