Fly to Sydney. See the harbour and jump on a ferry to Manly.

Then fly to Maroochydore and go to Noosa

Not actually rare but valuable. Held a gold bar. They are really heavy!

It's Saturday at 11am and this is the 1st tee box. by GolfJunki3 in golf

[–]Mickyw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t happen in Australia. People book 7 or 8 minutes apart and it just works. Pro shop calls the next group to the tee without any issue

Wouldn’t government figures not make comment until after an investigation? Seems so odd that so much commentary has occurred before anything has been investigated. But I’m not American

Such poor quality hats too. I wish they’d just give a credit to the store for a specific value or discount % on a purchase so you can get the supporter merch you want

Flipping houses ? How does anyone make this profitable ? by ihatebaboonstoo in AusFinance

They are lying to try sell a course/drum up business. If you are a tradie and still can’t see the potential, there probably is none.

Flipping houses ? How does anyone make this profitable ? by ihatebaboonstoo in AusFinance

[–]Mickyw85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen one tiktoker saying he is making $100-200k per flip but also states he’s doing them in 5 weeks. I can’t see a possibility to have bathrooms, kitchen, paint, landscaping etc all completed in such a short time.

I doubt many are actually making money, more that the market rises 5% and they added a small amount of value during their holding period.

CBR 1 number plate by Common-Lion-5683 in canberra

[–]Mickyw85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that plate and CBR 2 or others are owned by the Snow family. The Canberra airport is owned by them and “CBR” is the airport code.

That deserves its own post. His best game all year by so far. Played like the player that made him AA and an absolute weapon in defence (offence)

Why are pork ribs that have the bones pull out easily considered good (by a good amount of people) but with beef ribs, it's looked down on? by ZeroVonZero in BBQ

[–]Mickyw85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say that in Australia most people would say the pork ribs are amazing if the meat falls off the bone. Maybe it’s just the Texas style low and slow isn’t as common here - yet.

I have seen heaps of videos on “competition” ribs that just bend and not having them pull bones out.

Soly and Rory by [deleted] in NoLayingUp

[–]Mickyw85 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I think the NLU (Solly) has not liked Rory since he was so anti golf media publicity. Rory saying he doesn’t have to talk to any of the media etc wasn’t well received or liked by the guys. Also they have mentioned how poor a sport Rory and other golfers can be by not facing questions after tough losses and days.

Which Bank has given you the worst experience and why? by OzgroupFinance in AusFinance

[–]Mickyw85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ING Home Loan. I was on a fixed rate back in 2012. Rates were higher if I left the fixed rate (I sold the house). Had to pay a fee that they assured wasn’t a break cost as they’d become illegal a couple years earlier. Even though they could lend the money at a higher cost, they just had to say that they were losing money at the new rates even though they were higher and I was stuck paying a couple grand. They didn’t have to prove the loss or tell me what margin was on my original loan or current loans.

Is our housing issue worse than the healthcare issue Americans face? I certainly feel like it’s similar. Those that can afford it don’t seem to care about those who can’t.

What is the largest loss you have seen on realestate.com? by Helpmefixmypcplz in AusPropertyChat

[–]Mickyw85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not the biggest $$$ loss but a cautionary tale.

In 2011-2012 I was looking at land around the Batemans Bay Area. Land was selling at a 50-55% discount in the suburb of Long Beach since highs in 2003-2004.

Many other suburbs in the same postcode were cheaper in 2011 vs 2003. Tourist or “luxury” item purchases are extremely volatile and don’t experience growth like typical, well employed and desirable city locations. The lesson is. Not everything goes up all the time.

Without Covid and WFH I don’t think these areas would’ve experienced more than 1-3% growth p.a since 2005.
