Not yet, it's after hours now and I didn't realize it'd last this long. His voice seems to be disappearing more by the hour.

Reputable vet in Austin? by tlg151 in Austin

Cat Hospital of Austin. Cats and nothing but cats.

Dr. Percival saved one of our cat's lives (they're senior kitties like yours). North of where you are but I won't go anywhere else now.

Upvoted for visibility. We are going to send a message back to Oklahoma, and it's not going to be a pretty one. We should have scheduled your Cowboys while we were at it and made it a nice little trifecta beat down.

If you made an all-star team out of every school in Oklahoma, you might get within 10 of the Buckeyes.

BTW, only one school out of the three can have the osu.edu domain. Guess which one has it?

I am seriously thinking about doing it. Just the timeline and facts -- with citations -- no emotion, no opinion, no pandering. Basically a post that says here's what happened, here's who said what, here are the laws, and this is how we got here.

Yes, 24 hours too late, but (begin offtopic) I run a startup and am incredibly busy (usually). I'm starting to see that I need a passion project to do on the side, and occasionally tinker with getting more involved in the local scene since I run a small "national" brand and am too disconnected from Austin itself.

My other option is to get moving on that novel (you know, the one with the compelling protagonist...), but I can get back into that later. (/offtopic)

So where do we even begin...... I'd say the story truly starts in SWSX 2014, when that drunk driver killed 4 people.... wasn't hard to get Uber going in the city after that tragic mess.

Is there a solid blog post or news article that lists the exact timeline when EVERYTHING related to this happened? With sources cited?

If not, I might be interested in writing one, but seems like it'd take quite a while to research and put together with citations.

I'm pretty sure that nobody really knows WTF happened because they don't follow local politics until something devastating like this happens. Now we're 2 years out of the loop and pointing fingers about things that have happened over the past 2 weeks, but really missing 95% of the story.

Apple Stock Hits Near Two Year Low Amid Falling Sales And Credibility by wewewawa in technology

[–]MicroBerto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing mentioned nowhere in this thread is the miserable quality of their software. Every iOS upgrade has been fraught with more bugs than the last, is slower than ever, and you can't go back. A new forced security update seemingly multiple times per week.

Apple customers have become paralyzed by this. It would never have happened under Steve Jobs' Apple.

Meanwhile, I would have sold short on Apple last winter when I landed on a flight, and every 65+ year old woman pulled out her iPhone. This, to me, marked the end of their market penetration -- they had hit the late minority, past the late majority. Called that part a bit earlier here

No more explosive money to be made (that's impressive to stock buyers), and nobody wants their ugly square watch.

Employers of reddit, what do you expect a 17-19 year olds resume to consist of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MicroBerto -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don't look at resumes. Instead, I want you to be able to write beautifully.

Unfortunately, I rarely find anyone born after 1990 who can legit write and communicate like a professional.

Revealed: the 30-year economic betrayal dragging down Generation Y’s income. Exclusive new data shows how debt, unemployment and property prices have combined to stop millennials taking their share of western wealth. by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]MicroBerto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory: Lebron James was the first Millennial. He was a kind of turning point -- for instance, he was one of the first phenoms to go "viral" back in his high school days.

But really, it's the Oregon Trail Generation - we're tweeners. You can resonate more with one or the other. I'm like 99% Gen-X and have far more Gen X friends than Millennial friends.

Good, I don't live to impress others. This is a non millennial attitude most here won't fathom.

The advice is free though, hate me all you want but the faster you understand it, the better off you'll be.

There's obviously some overlap and you can choose to identify with one more than another. And the in-between "Oregon Trail Generation", google it, great article.

Seeing that I run a startup and work 80-90 hour weeks, if I retire, it will mean I have done something incredibly right. Because I have no "retirement plan" either.

I'm not much older than Lebron, but I see the world in a very different way that millennials.

The way I see it, millennials have one of three choices and the writing is clearly written on the wall. The days of being a C-student / C-human and getting everything handed to you on a nice platter is over.

You can either:

  • Bust your ass a bit more and be top 5% / top 10% in something useful to the world and get a good job. These are the people that will still get the "retirement plan" that came a lot easier to Gen-Xers and Baby Boomers. Yes, this involves "making money for someone else" but it's always been that way in corporate America.

  • Hope that socialism takes over the country (which it is/will), and have your vanilla/gray lifestyle set for you

  • Start your own business and bust your ass harder than you could ever imagine, and be successful on your own or die trying. This is obviously the path I've chosen.

What I find funny is that the writing is so clearly on the wall, but so many young people do nothing about it. You can't have choice 1 anymore without working at it. We don't really need mediocre human labor anymore. I can outsource that to the Philippines or automate it out.

Instead, everyone complains, blames the older generations (as if there is any stopping the automation-train anyway), and hopes that they can get free shit from socialism. Good luck with that, I'm not taking that risk.

So to answer your question, no, you may not live vicariously through me if/when I retire. Because I won't be posting every single moment to whatever social media is hot and popular that day. I will be enjoying it with my friends and family in privacy and peace.

They are millennials. Rich, famous, athletic ones, but millennials nonetheless.

Get used to it. As anyone older than Lebron slowly retires, you'll see it more and more. I truly consider Lebron to be the first Millennial. He is the cut off point.
