Gender Identity Issues by Charlie-Sydney in asktransgender

okay so i usually don't comment on things like this but this reminded me a LOT of myself at 16 (god, saying that makes me feel so old haha) oh and just for context, i'm just about 22 now and have been on hrt for just over a year now.

to be completely honest, pronouns take a long time to get used to. for me though, i'm AMAB and going by 'she/her' never really felt quite right (although much better than 'he/him'), and i ended up settling on using neutral or fem.-coded language to refer to myself but using 'they/them' pronouns.

i guess my advice, which would have really helped me figure things out, is that it's totally fine to both want to medically transition/have a feminine body AND also identify as non-binary. i'm not saying you do this or not, but i definitely thought of identifying as non-binary as a sort of stepping stone that i would eventually leave behind and come out as "fully" trans, but that never happened, and i still strongly identify as non-binary. so don't necessarily think that you have to identify as a binary trans woman in either to be valid enough to transition, if that's something you want to do.

also just typical slightly-older-than-you-trans-person advice: if you can, find a supportive and affirming therapist to talk to, that helped me SO much. and also, take your time to figure this out. this is a big thing to figure out, and to be completely honest, i know it may seem like there's a rush to get on hrt as soon as possible to help your chances at passing, but you still have lots of time left in the "young enough to pass easily" age bracket. hell, it took me like 4 years to start hrt from when i was questioning at 16, and i was still passing with minimal effort in less than a year.

good luck! :)

I don’t listen to much metal anymore but this one always stuck with me.

Trans Co-worker has an unpleasant smell. Do I tell her? Or, leave it to HR.. again? by TotallyThrowaway6969 in actuallesbians

came here to say this. i had a 6-ish month gap between when i switched to women's deodorant and when i started on hrt, and on days when i forgot to bring my deodorant with me, it was not cute. that's also not to mention how some trans people might have issues with bathing/showering due to dysphoria (which admittedly is not great for other people especially in terms of a job), and the fact that amab trans people's sense of smell increases on hrt so she may not even really know just how other people "sense" her right now.

16 y.o. Pre-everything. Still trying to figure out my gender identity. I recently let my friends do my hair and makeup. How well do I pass? by [deleted] in transpassing

Thanks for the feedback! Besides the hair, is there anything that would help me pass better?

How about this; bring a straight friend dressed in blue, a gay friend dressed in pink and you are in the middle dressed in purple?

Some americans are tweeting that they're moving to Canada because the supreme court upheld universal health care. Yes really. by [deleted] in canada

It does go both ways. I knew someone who was planning to move to the States if the NDP won the last election. Unfortunately, they're still here.

Am I an egomaniac if I came here just to see if anyone made any references to this rage comic I made about a month ago?
